"Fire Moss is a very expensive material because of how dangerous it is to collect. It cannot be grown anywhere else outside the Fire Plane excluding the Searing Crater. I have lost three Pathfinders under my employ in just the past year alone to that place. Lets us just hope it's not four by the end of their contract."

Basic Information
Genetics and Reproduction
Fire Moss reproduces via sending spores into the air. When the spores settle they quickly take root and spreads to about a one foot patch within a week of settling.
Growth Rate & Stages
When Fire Moss first lands as a spore it quickly grows into a foot patch of moss within one week. From one week to about four months old the Fire Moss will continue to grow at a consistent rate of anywhere from one to one and a half feet a week.
Ecology and Habitats
Fire Moss prefers and environment that remains over 100 degrees Fahrenheit all year around and had a high concentration of vaporous Sulfur. If the environment ever falls below the optimal temperature or it's cut off from the Sulfur vapors for to long Fire Moss will quickly die off.
Dietary Needs and Habits
Fire Moss converts the Sulfur vapors of the environment into energy. The energy not utilized is stored as sugar within the stalks of the Fire Moss until converted into usable energy again.
Biological Cycle
Due to the constant state of the Searing Crater and the fire plane Fire Moss does not have a state that it does not grow or hibernate in. The flaw though is that Fire moss has grown so accustom to that environment that if the criteria isn't met the Fire Moss dies very quickly. Specialized equipment has to be utilized to harvest, transport, and store Fire Moss.
Conservation Status
Fire Moss is not currently on any conservation list even though many different magi and medicine men have attempted to petition for it to be on a conservation list.
