Madame Eva
In canon, she has no past given or any sort of information really. She's a 1D NPC if I ever saw one. So, to remedy this, I'm figuring that Tatayana must've had some friends and that a Vistani tribe had taken to stopping by the village and was so when the events that drew in Barovia occured, she was there in the castle.
Also, as "Madame" is a honorific that has the last name of a person attached, this gives me some fun times. In order to marry this idea with her name will be Manusa and I'll be sure to take note of that tribe's passed down myth.
Raunie Manusa Eva (a.k.a. Madame Eva, Eva Zarovan)
The most famous (or infamous) vistana by far, Madame Eva is a strange conflicting figure in history, modern events, and the coming times. She's always appeared as an old crone inside the the misty borders and not even her own family knows her age. Since making an alliance with Strahd von Zarovich in 470 BC, she's enjoyed a position of neutrality, telling those like the party what they're expected to do and appearing suddenly when she sees a firm hand is needed to guide events.

Personal history
Born into a wandering tribe calling themselves the Vistani, Eva had a strange knack for divination that manifested in strong gut feelings about people or decisions. They wandered the Prime Material Plane and during her lifetime had taken to following behind the Barovian army during the Terg Invasion of Barovia and offering up their skills as craftspeople, entertainers, and mages to equip the soldiers and keep morale up. After the Terg's defeat, they made rounds around the newly freed Barovia. It was then, while staying nearby the Village of Barovia, that Eva became friends with Tatyana Federovna. The two became nigh inseparable to the point where Tatyana was considering joining the tribe until they met Sergei von Zarovich and Eva's gut told her to brace for despair. As the new couple's happiness grew, so did that feeling, even up until the day of the wedding. Allowed into the castle as the maid of honor, Eva felt Sergei's death and the coming of the Mists. As Tatyana fell off the garden balcony, Madame Eva harnessed the incoming Mists and redirected a small stream to weave herself and her people into the Pact, forever torturing the man who took her only friend.

Two people who are only friends because of Tatyana. Sergei holds Eva in high esteem, but cannot figure her out in any way that matters, and Eva sees him as a man with a good heart, but a youthful disregard for consequences. They get along only as a necessity.
