Theocracy of Hind

Located on the eastern coast of the continent of Umios , the Theocracy of Hind is an extremist theocracy comprising mostly of humans with a sizable dwarven population. Founded shortly before the discovery of the new world, the young nation has nevertheless grown rapidly and has become a key player in events both in the old world and the new.

Structure

  • The Arch Cardinal, The supreme leader, overseeing all religious, political, and societal aspects of the Theocracy.
  • Cardinals, Senior clergy governing large provinces, implementing the Arch Cardinal’s directives and managing regional church affairs.
  • Bishops, Oversee the religious activities of individual large cities or important regions, managing local clergy and church operations.
  • Archdeacons, Serve under bishops, managing several parishes within a larger diocese. Responsible for administrative oversight and discipline within their jurisdictions.
  • Abbots/Abbesses, Lead monastic communities or large parishes, responsible for the spiritual life and administration of their communities. They play a key role in maintaining the monastic tradition and discipline. Are also the diplomatic corp of both the theocracy and the religion.
  • Priests, Common clergy rank, responsible for the spiritual needs of local congregations and the day-to-day management of individual churches.
  • Inquisitors, Tasked with upholding doctrinal purity, investigating heresy, and enforcing anti-magic laws within the community. Their role involves significant authority, especially in doctrinal and disciplinary matters.
  • Deacons, Assist priests and bishops in liturgical services, community outreach, and the logistical management of church activities.
  • Preceptors, Focus on education and training within the church, responsible for the doctrinal instruction of acolytes and the continuing education of clergy.
  • Chaplains, Specialized clergy attached to military units or secular institutions, ensuring adherence to the church’s teachings in various societal sectors.
  • Acolytes, The lowest rank among ordained members, primarily responsible for serving higher-ranked officials and learning church doctrine and operations, aspiring to rise through the ranks.
  • Lay Brothers/Sisters, Non-ordained members who have taken religious vows and serve through practical work in various capacities such as healthcare, education, or monastery maintenance. They are integral to the day-to-day functioning of religious communities but do not hold clerical or liturgical authority.
