O’Bannion’s Crew

While O’Bannion’s crew is majority Irish, he doesn’t discriminate in terms of talent and employs from among the town’s various immigrant populations, as well as Indigenous and African-American workers. Unlike some other gangster crews, O’Bannion sees positive community relations as a necessity for good business. While bootlegging is the largest and most profitable element of O’Bannion’s business, his empire stretches to loansharking, gambling, prostitution, protection rackets, good old-fashioned robbery (if the rewards warrant it), and so on. While O’Bannion oversees everything (i.e., he expects money to flow to him), he has a cadre of lieutenants who look after the day-to-day operations, each carving their own niche and dreaming dreams of one day being the “big boss.”

Look to the Future

O’Bannion wants to put Giuseppe “Joe” Potrello (The Italian Club {912}) out of the picture permanently, but is biding his time for the right conditions and moment. Arkham is too small a town for an outright hit, but O’Bannion feels sure that, if he is patient enough, his chance will come.
