Harogbas (har-OHG-bass)

Overview

Also known as Howard Marshall, Harogbas is a relatively large male strength dragon hatched by Caparollo in the clan of Shagawzon. On occasion he goes by his nest mate's name, Dunen. Harogbas has lived many decades so far and is among those in dragon kind what wish for the world to change, though unlike many, he is willing to go to extremes and down paths others dragons would not dare.
Appearance and Personality
As a human, Harogbas appears as a typical westerner, with light skin, brown eyes, and short dark brown hair. His body is built as one that has worked to do laborious tasks but is not muscular in an unnatural way. Harogbas's body is somewhat short compared to average. He is not fond of having any facial hair and usually keeps his face clean shaven.   As a dragon, Harogbas has the typical build for strength dragons, as such dragons strive to maintain or increase their physical abilities. He is larger than most male strength dragons, but not as large as a female strength dragon. Decades of conditioning have allowed him to fly and fight in the air with more agility than the average strength dragon.   Harogbas has a quiet personality typical of a dragon who prefers living on their own. However, he is closed off to most not because of a lack of desire for companionship, but because he is secretive about his goals and how to achieve them. Few dragons know whether he is kind or not, capable of humor or tenderness, or what his dreams or desires are. Though he has been known to mate with many other dragons, a majority of these couplings are seen as a means towards some goal of his instead of an act of love or instinct. The only known female dragon to ever hold Harogbas's heart in the way that dragons can is the female strength dragon, Jheecu, the same female that laid the nest that hatched the first conjuring dragon in ten thousand years.
History and Sinister Plots
The elders of Hasinji and other important clans have attempted to investigate Harogbas a number of times in the past several decades. To subvert many of their efforts, Harogbas often uses the name of his now dead nest mate, Dunen, in order to travel and visit dragons without being caught. Like many dragons across the world, Harogbas desires a return of the conjurers and for an end to the life of hiding all Laku face in a world dominated by humans.    However, his efforts often stray down paths not accepted by most of dragon kind. With regards to any reveal to the humans, Harogbas has been willing to gather, and even train, Laku of all species, dragon allied or not, for the possibility that war may break out between humans and creatures of magic. It is confirmed that Harogbas desires no matter how human deal with the Laku, they must be made to recognize that the Laku, and especially dragons, are far superior and will not be subject to any sort of human authority. While these views are mostly thought of as extreme, they are not as concerning to dragon kind's highest officials.    There are whispers from those distant from Harogbas's efforts that claim that Harogbas wants to undo the Joining and once again separate humans from dragons. Most ignore these repeated whispers, knowing that if the might of dragon kind was not enough to finish the Joining ten thousand years ago, it would not be enough to reverse it in modern times with populations that are exponentially larger. However, there is one avenue through which this undoing might be possible and that would involve a massive loss of life for both species. Nothing is certain and perhaps not even Harogbas would accept such measures.   What the Greatest Elder and others want to stop is Harogbas's experiments into the creation of modern conjurers. Researchers from the clans he most frequents, Shagawzon, Oita, and Talbagu, have in the past decades searched through caves and sites known for holding clues as to the exact happenings during the Joining and the subsequent Curse that killed all conjuring dragons. From these findings he is thought to have ordered talented dragons to experiment with different spells to either discover how to affect the determination of a hatchling's type, fight against the Curse so that some hatchlings might morph into conjurers, or to transform adult dragons into something resembling conjurers. The latter line of research has led to numerous deaths, both from test subjects and those performing the spells. However while the previous two ideas have not led to fatalities, it is believed that Harogbas and others have forced female dragons to comply and mate in order to produce experimental nests.   Even more concerning is Harogbas's comfort with working with Dragon Foes such as Lucoras who can make use of corrupt, or inverse magic. Many of these Laku desire to strike against both dragon kind and human kind. In two of the clans he frequents, he has gathered a large following of Laku of all types that share his vision, but these individuals could very well take advantage of what Harogbas has done in order to further their own ambitions. Dragon kinds officials want to investigate these clans to ensure Harogbas and those he works with are not plotting something sinister, but thus far they have been unable to determine their exact locations.
