The Peak Pact Document in Pronathea | World Anvil

The Peak Pact

Struck between the countries of the main Pronathean continent, the Peak Pact is the treaty that provides all three countries access to the Gelaal Mountains and prevents tourists from trying to climb up to the mythical Veil of Stars.
— A Historie of Pronathea

A Formation of Three

Brought to necessity by the constant conflict over the desire to study the peaks of the Gelaal Mountains, the Peak Pact allows anyone with a permit approved by their country of residence to visit the mountains.   While you can simply get a visitor's permit, a study permit is required for those wanting to take samples of the mountains, which is available at no additional cost.   Despite the Peak Pact being enacted, Bihulling and Kirchwal have had a long standing dispute over whose territory the main peak is in. While historical borders have always had it on Bihulling's side, Kirchwal argues that their forces being the main ones attributed to the protection of the main peak means that it should be within their borders instead. Kubicha remains fairly neutral on the topic, but does maintain that historical borders are the basis for claims to land, not the forces used in conjunction with other countries for the sake of protecting a major landmark.

A Threat to the Trio

Due to the myth of the Veil of Stars, many people have tried to climb up the mountains, almost all of which have either failed and climbed back down or have simply fallen to their deaths. Very few people are allowed to climb that far up the mountains anymore, and when they are allowed to, they can only do so with representatives of each country present and must be more than physically able to climb to the main peak.
