The Scholar's Path to Hidden Divinity Organization in Project Chaos | World Anvil

The Scholar's Path to Hidden Divinity

Our work is akin to that of a marionette and its master. The Order is our marionette. We the Hidden Divinity are its master. And from the mountains of Kaii'kapiin to the sands of Niil'vrai'kiin Jo'saahish, the Realm is our stage.
Kolkalaiin Ventuka, leader of the Hidden Divinity

The Scholar's Path to Hidden Divinity is a secret organization within The Order of Reasonable Teachings comprising of the Reasonable Teaching's "truest" highest ranking members. Unlike many other sects within the Reasonable Teachings, the Hidden Divinity cares next to nothing for its parent organization. Where the Reasonable Teachings sought to unify devils with its motto of "we can become as gods," via Kul'viir Enlightenment, The Hidden took a more selfish ideology of "only the few can become gods."

Creation Of A Dark Order

After the assassination of Kanvur Iinkaniin in the mortal year 1873, members of the Reasonable Teachings scrambled to fill the Grandmaster Scholar's empty position. The scramble for the highest position in the Order became deadly after the killing of Jolvaliik Volpanum, a Master Scholar of the Order and on the Board of Directors at the Takriin'kal'miir University in the mortal year 1874. It had become clear that the Order was far too unstable, being that even members on University boards were now being openly killed.   However, this infighting also distracted most of the Master Scholars to miss the creation of a new and second, secretive branch order being founded right under their noses: The Scholar's Path to Hidden Divinity. Comprised of a few elite and powerful mages with similar goals, within a month, this new Order already had the other Master Scholars under their control. The Hidden Divinity appointed a puppet Grandmaster Scholar, Elnaad Krukol, who only won after the Hidden manipulated a vote. With the control of the highest position, the Hidden Divinity now had control of the Reasonable Teachings funds and connections for their disposal.   Once the Reasonable Teachings Master Scholars were back in working order, the Hidden Divinity had one goal: they wanted to seek the so-called "spread knowledge" that the Reasonable Teachings preached for themselves. But the Hidden Divinity knew that to pursue this knowledge, they'd have to conduct unethical and dangerous research, all without putting themselves at risk.   In the name of Kul'viir Enlightenment, the Hidden Divinity manipulated Grandmaster Scholar Krukol to adopt the Limitless Policy, which removed all restraint to any Reasonable Teachings member in their pursuit of knowledge. Due to this policy, in less than three months, the number of devils that would suffer from life-threatening injuries or death soared from 16 out of 100 to 33 out of 100. Though the consequences for the average devil were extreme, they were incredibly beneficial to the Hidden Divinity.
