Jakiil Species in Project Chaos | World Anvil

Jakiil

Hey! Hey, over here, Nariike look! This one. This one I'm sure is Jakiil.   Let me see. Golden petals...about a foot long...tastes like ore. Hm, looks like you're right this time Aniil. Taste it, it's alright it's edible. It's rather sweet but with a metallic taste don't you think? The flower has natural sugars and because of the high metal content of the area, it makes the plant taste a bit like iron.   Hey Aniil...hey what the hell! You could've left me another behind the glutton.   But, Nariike, this is the Realm of Gluttony after all...

The number of beneficial plants in Niil'vrai'kiin Jo'saahish can be counted on a single hand. Among them is the Jakiil, a plant that has evolved to grow in the desert. Despite its appearance, the plant is loaded with nutrition and is completely edible. Although for any botanist that wouldn't know otherwise, the jakiil is an essential resource to Vraii'jashuk's survival.

Unlike the galiil, the jakiil requires water to survive in the hostile desert. Though, also like the galiil, this strange flora has also been seen growing in areas where metal is present, most notably iron. DNA testing of the plant has shown that the jakiil is a distant cousin of the galiil, but evidence has also shown the plant does not predate the Elder rule. It's theorized that Nabun’sahaga kii Niil'vrai'kiin is the reason for this strange trait of the jakiil, the pollen of both florae exchanging due to the great sandstorm.   Also, unlike the galiil, the jakiil provides actual sustenance to the Vraii'jashuk. The jakiil is loaded with vitamins and is an essential source of iron for those who call the desert home. Aside from being able to be eaten raw, the plant can also be used in various Vraii'jashuk dishes, most notably kalam al'shunukaams.

Author's Notes

Being that I'm late to Summer Camp, this article may be a bit messy, and is still a heavy WIP.

This is really fun! I have to admit that I followed the link to galiil hoping that it would use the same picture as a joke.
