The War of Extinction
INTRODUCTION
The War of Extinction is a fearful myth about the fall of the Merciful. Many discredit the story, beleiving the infallibility and immortality of Loscin's Chosen; yet the myth persists in the mind of all devout Loscinites.
THE MYTH
The War of Extinction originates from a song of a famous Arvenon poet in the early fourth period. The tale follows the least of the merciful, Fayste the Light, who, over the course of ten thousand year, betrays the merciful and Loscin, taking up an alliance with the fourh ressurection of The Keepers of Kor'non. Sometime in the 16th millenia, Fayste strikes a deal with Kor'non, the demigod of darkness, to betray all eight of his companions in exchange for rule of the whole of Preylid. The Epic then proceeds to follow Lunist the Merciful as she leads the divine armies in the cosmic realm. Along with Blackwulf the Flame Lord and Andryr the Sapphire, Lunist and the merciful discover Fayste's treachery and declare war once and for all on the Dark Pit. For three hundred years, the two sides clash in a brutal war in Eryaetos, utterly decimated the southern half of the continent, turning arvenon against arvenon, man against brother. The myth consists of brutal accounts of the final deaths of Van the Warden, Jubiniah the Elder, Guore the Boulder, and Lunist the Merciful. In the end, Eryaetos passes beneath the seas and extinction of both merciful and reapers are achieved through the death of Kor'non himself. The War achieves cosmic balance, but at the heavy price of eight merciful. Blackwulf remains, but is transcended to the rank of Divine General, forever locked in the eternal plain, with peace reigning in Preylid.
