The Queenshire of Ecsaev
INTRODUCTION
The Queenshire of Ecsaev (Eh-ck-say-va) was the last Vei'n nation on Abeon, following the driving out of the species during the great purge at the end of the third period. Their rules, commonly called 'The Holyfyre' by the outside world, are called Llyby (el-ai-bye, meaning 'Queen') by the populace. Ecsaev means Freed Slaves in Alkin, the official language of the Vei. The inhabitants of Ecsaev are the descendants of Borishell, the last holdout against the Tsonalian Purge in the 38th century. Ecsaev is located in the far east of Abeon, inhabiting a region called The Dark East.
HISTORY
Ecsaev was formed in 4002 by Ishnell Holyfyre, a runaway slave of the late nation Borishell. She, along with six of the strongest remaining Vei, formed Seic Faer or The Seven, and subsequently started a rebellion in the east. The occupying Arvenon had grown weary of the constant fighting, and Prillot IV granted the Vei their independance. The Breaking of Ecsaev was a war waged between skullers driven from the Dark Vale by Archians, and the Vei of the Queenshire of Ecsaev. The war wiped out half the population of Vei and claimed the lives of half the Llyby. The breaking was purged in 4804, with the help of Traelec. Notable fighters among the Llyby who ended the Breaking were Klahrin Belestax, Bistaek Achserjock, and Re''inn Stevenson.
CULTURE
Society in Ecsaev is heavily influenced by their religion, a sect of Terrestrism worshipping the middleton god of war, Ironell. The Vei are a warlike people, so Ecsaev's culture of Windpike are heavily involved in the wars of Abeon. Vei like Klahrin Belestax were common in the 4th millineum, so having several among the seven Llyby was not an unnatural occurence. This warlike attitude has led Ecsaev into many unfavorable situations when landing on the wrong side of a war, and has compounded their debts to other nations like Ardune and Tsonlar. This debt was absolved when Ecsaev signed The Abeonic Treaty, but the nation continued the destructive habit of siding in every war. Marriage is illegal in Ecsaev, as in most Vei cultures; so to replace the population the all-female-species most procreate with those around them. Although the Vei blood depletes in the males, the females are still considered full-blooded and allowed to remain citizenship in the Queenshire. The men are deported and banished to Tsonlar or Ardune. This is where the hatred of Vei originated in the northeast regions of the Cordal Coast.
