The Breaking of Ecsaev
INTRODUCTION
The Breaking of Ecsaev was the greatest trial that faced the Vei following The Purging of the Dark East at the beginning of the period. The invasion of skullers in the dark east created such a ruckus in Abeon, that many suspected a third great war could be caused. Skeptics of this idea were proven wrong, when the Vei helped Traelec defend itself from the Archian Empire and Caeveit in 4781. Many famous Vei fought in the Breaking, including Klahrin Belestax, Re''inn Stevenson, Bistaek Achserjock, and Sallphiese Markoph.
BRUTAL BEGINNING
The Skuller invasion abslotuely blindsided The Queenshire of Ecsaev. In a time where the ruling The Holyfyre Seven were focused on trade and keeping peace with The Abeonic Treaty, the last thing expected was an assault from the battlewrath creatures of old. The result was an absolute bloodbath. The port city of Paeid fell in just two sets, resulting in thousands of casualties, civilian and military. The greatest commander, Sallphiese Markoph, was deployed in Tsonlar to help with diplomatic relations, making the young Klahrin Belestax of House Ruyn in charge of the royal Ecsaevian army at Maplestall (Bytae). In 4727, the skuller mob assaulted the great capital city of Ecsaev. The losses were staggering, yet the young Commander Belestax held out for nearly three months. As silvercrest struck the Dark East, the Vei forces retreated from Maplestall, depsite the begging of Klahrin to stay and defend. The Vei commander disappeared from the war following the massive defeat, opting to sail southward and explore dragonwing isle.
THE STALEMATE
Even though Klahrin Belestax abdicated from the war, her forces had held off the invasion long enough for famed Holyfyre leader Sallaphiese to return from her mission. The regrouping forces welcomed their new commander, along with fellow Llyby Bistaek Achserjock, and engaged in skirmishes along the river seperating Bytae from the mainland. The loss of Maplestall was terrible for Ecsaev, yet it presented the vei forces a strange opportunity- the skullers were trapped in the little island penninsula. Sallaphiese and her forces spread out, preventing any crossing of the skuller army. Thus, the war fell to a stalemate. For the next ffity years, very little action occured. Sallaphiese and her army stayed surrounding Bytae, killing any skuller who came within shooting distance. However, the military forces were tied up in this reverse occupation, preventing Ecsaev from helping any of their allies as tension increased in the west.
TURN OF EVENTS
This changed in 4781, with the unexpected arrival of Svynhyde Stevenson, a vei warrior who had been sent away at the beginning of the war. Svynhyde convinced the holyfyre council (sans Klahrin) to send forces to aid the Traelec Confederation against the Archian Empire. This aid resulted in many deaths, including the famed warrior Sallaphiese Holyfyre. However, Klahrin returned with the forces, along with Re'inn Stevenson, aka Beauregarde Shade. In 4800, the two would invade the little penninsula and lay siege to Bytae. Atember 14th, 4814 5p, was the bloodiest day recoreded in the history of the dark east. Seventy thousand Vei perished in the retaking of Maplestall, but the invading skullers were completely extinguished. Beau was crowned a Holyfyre (in place of the now dead Sallaphiese), 4724 - 4814
