The Purging of the Dark East
INTRODUCTION
At the turn of the third period, Middelton and the southern parts of Abeon fell into complete chaos and anarchy. Rules of engagement ceased to be, and all hell broke loose. It was clear: The Ithrium Empire had held together the fragments of peace in the third period. One such form of chaos and abandon of freedom was the purging of the Vei from the Dark East. To champion this cause, the wild and ruthless Reangar Allymar stepped up. At the helm of a ridiculous three hundred thousand arvenon soldier from Tsonlar, Reanger the Great commited the most heinous form of genocide in the history of Abeon, before or after.
THE BEGINNING
As Melehur grew closer to the great battle against Lyrein of Ithrium, Reangar was already making plans to invade the Vei coast, starting with Egletone. When the great Ithrium Empire finally fell in 3707, Reangar hastily began a full scale invasion of the great Vei nation. Egletone was completely blindsided by Tsonlar, and the nation fell into a state of panic. The empress fled Eglescity and the army combined with Borishell, their northern neighbors. With the two forces combining, the Vei set forth an army of 85,000 to repel the Tsondalian invasion at the Timburst bridge. Meanwhile, Reangar looted and burned the whole territory. Silvercrest set in, and both sides entrenched themselves for the remaineder of the year. In 3708, Reangar continued the plundering, not daring to set foot on the bridge while the daunting Vei stood watch. This continued for ten years.
BORISHELL FALLS
Reangar was a master strategist, and knowing the limits of his army, no matter the size; he successfully outwaited his enemy. In the latter days of 3719, the Vei forces moved into Timburst, liberating the forest and the scorched penninsula from Tsondalian rule.
Depsite the initial success of the incursion, the Vei liberation was cut short. In the Blossoming of 3720, Lord Allymar led a force of one hundred ten thousand arvenon against the full force of the Vei and annhilated them at bottleneck in the penninsula. He trapped the remaining forces in the burning town of Fortsoffe. With no military opposition left to oppose his entrance to the Dark East, Reangar quickly sent a force of forty-five thousand over the bridge and into Borishell.
GREAT CIVILLIAN MORALE
What Reangar did not count on, was how great the civiliian opposition would be. Refugees from Egletone especially posed a massive threat, blending with Borishell sympathizers and showing their true intentions at inopportune times. Reangar suffered most of his losses during the twenty years it took to tame the Dark Eastern Vei. Overall though, the campaign was a smashing success, resulting in near extermination of the Vei.
AFTERMATH
Unbeknownst to Reangar, an outcast few of the Vei remained in the Dark East as the slaves to their new overlords. These Vei would rise up 200 years later to form The Queenshire of Ecsaev, the final Vei territory in Abeon. Although Reangar would have preferred to leave his anscestors the Dark East as a territory; if the Vei had been successfully driven out or exterminated from Abeon, the Korjaff Empire in Eryaetos likely would have defended their anscestoral sisters and invaded Tsonlar, forever changing the course of Abeonic history. The divine hand of Loscinder was evident in this war.
