Lathander Morninglord

the Rose-and-Gold God

Lathander, also known as the Morninglord, the Rose-and-Gold God, and the Commander of Creativity, presides over dawn, renewal/rebirth, and vitality. His symbol is a rising sun, usually depicted over a green field, although sometimes a scarab beetle is used in more ancient symbology. He is vehemently opposed to the undead, and his followers are urged to destroy undead creatures whenever possible. He is also often called upon during ceremonies surrounding birth and fertility.

His clerics make up the majority of Meloria's available healers, as they are one of the few religious magic users allowed to perform magics outside of their temple. The major temple to Lathander in Meloria is called Morninglord's Light, or Lathander's Light, depending on who you ask. There is a secondary, smaller temple to Lathander in the Guardian's Academy, dedicated to Lathander in his aspect as Commander, where he rules over athletics and self-perfection. The first month of the year, Thander, is named after him, as it is considered the renewal of the year.
