Mountainfolk
A term used to refer to the three major kingdoms of Turtle's Spine: Gnomes, Dwarves and Goliaths. The gnomes were the first to live within these mountain ranges, sharing it with their reclusive neighbors the Baldermen and various Beastkin that inhabited those supposedly uninhabitable rocky peaks. When the fighting broke out between the other kingdoms and the humans, the gnomes wanted no part of it, but after being forced to watch as society after society was destroyed and enslaved, a young gnome named Tibble Pebblebottom had enough. He had become close friends with some of the dwarves and risked his life to rescue a good number of them from their home in the Eastern Grasslands and bringing them to Turtle's Spine, where the King was forced to "do the right thing". Many of these dwarves sought to pay such a good deed forward, and together with some willing gnomes, orchestrated a rescue for the goliaths of the Western Grasslands. The gnome king begrudgingly provided shelter for all refugees of the war, and over time the three peoples built and unshakable bond. When the fighting was finally over, they settled in different regions of the mountain, and established new and meaningful traditions in celebration of their freedom and each other.
