Goliaths
Origin: Once upon a time, the harsh expanse now known as The Hunting Lands, was called the luscious and bountiful Western Grasslands. There was a large population of very tall mortals that lived at peace with the native Sunk'wajan tribes. They were farmers, caring for all manner of livestock (cows, pigs, chickens, etc.) as they believed it their natural duty in service to Erith and Mother Gyeuh. They formed a bond with the dwarves during this time, as a few of the more adventurous little fellows traveled over the Two Rivers in search of other people to trade with. Some dwarves enjoyed the goliaths' company so much that they settled in the Western Grasslands, establishing a permanent trade center for a variety of peoples.
During the Human Invasions: At first, the humans that migrated to the Western Grasslands were celebrated, welcomed as new allies and possible partners in trade, expanding the diversity of the realm. They built their own villages throughout the plains with the help of the hard-working goliaths, and even built for themselves a castle near the southern coast. The humans lived at peace with the dwarves and goliaths, but something was off. They had beastkin living among them, including the goliaths' longtime ally the Sunk'wajan, who didn't seem happy to be living in the human societies. The realization came too late, as the human armies swept down from the North without warning. The first victims were a small human village near the edge of Desolation. This shook the whole of the Grasslands, as they realized how far the humans were willing to go, attacking even their own kind. Sometime after that the human armies uprooted the Goliaths from their homes, enslaving their entire people for manual labor in the construction of a giant monument to the first human to be slain by humans in the war (The Human King was a twisted man). Their subjugation lasted for many years, as the humans expanded their conquest, and forced the goliaths to do all the heavy lifting. One year a band of dwarves (who had also been nearly entirely enslaved) and gnomes rescued a few of them from their slave camps. These few hid in the mountains with the refugee dwarves and the clever gnomes, until almost the end of the invasions. At the very last, the humans came storming through their new home, retreating from a terrible defeat, and desperate to return to their capital with expedience. Thanks to some warrior groups and ingenious gnome tactics, the humans passed through without knowing the mountainfolk were ever there (because if they did, they were killed).
Post Human Invasions: The goliaths and dwarves resettled in Turtle's Spine, the dwarves burrowing into the mountains to create new homes for themselves while the goliaths migrated to the plentiful valleys. However, in these valleys the only livestock there was to care for were goats and some mountainous sheep, and thus the Goliaths became shepherds.
Current Status: Some goliaths have found the courage to move out of the mountains once more in the decades after the conflict died down. They settled on the coasts of the Northwest. Human refugees from the war and some Tarthians from the south, were seeking a new home as well, and endeavoring to be better than their enemies, as all people are children of Erith, accepted them into their communities. These tribes full of people of such varying size and shape are called the Ji'rada. Primal: Trolls

Appearance: Goliaths are so large they are often mistaken for Giants by anyone who hasn't seen an actual giant. Unlike their humongous ancestors, all goliaths have a fairly humanoid body composition save for their unnatural height, weight, and strength.

Traditions:
Goliaths are friendly with the reclusive Satyrs, for in Goliath culture Rams are considered a symbol of strength and protection of the weaker members of the herd, and to goliaths, Satyrs are "ram-people".
Goliaths don't believe in having a title for their leaders. Although they are led by one individual, that individual tends to be the elder of the community, a shaman that is connected body and soul to Erith. They believe that all living things come from the erith and must one day return to it when they die, thus the cycle of life is perfect and infinite. Their shaman's connection with Erith is their connection to their ancestors, who they cherish dearly, and celebrate in story and tradition. They tend to the wildlife of their lands as it is their duty to Erith for all her gifts.
