Erekian Lord Zachary Hemwick (a.k.a. Lord Hemwick)
Zachary Hemwick is an Erekian Lord, and founder and owner of Fort Hemwick.
He is well known in Haistone for leading the expansion effort into The Wildlands south of Haistone, and for the construction of Fort Hemwick.
The construction of Fort Hemwick lead to a lot of criticism towards him, and even started a small riot in the streets of Haistone, as people believed that he was squandering resources away on the fort that served no other purpose than allowing him to stake a claim to some decent farmland.
Controversies aside, Zachary has managed to keep his title and lands, largely due to his rapid expansion into The Wildlands.

Where it not for Fort Hemlock, we would still have daily monster sightings at the farms south of Haistone. My men and I have purged more of The Wildlands in two years, than the entire nation combined have done in a decade. The results speak for themselves!

Over the years, Zachary has become quite obese. His love for good food and lack of physical activity has taken their toll. He becomes easily fatigued from physical labor, and his heavy breathing is quite audible when he speaks.

Childhood
Zachary was born during The Sukilzvi, the last month of the year, a month of darkness.Some believe that people born during The Sukilzvi are more prone to evil than the average person. Among kids, this is taken even further and many believe that they are evil beings. This stigma followed Zachary throughout his childhood, but rather than succumbing to would-be bullies, he learned to win them over with friendliness and subtle gifts or bribes, trying his best to prove that he was not evil. Thus Zachary grew up with a natural affinity for diplomacy.
Before being appointed
Before Zachary was appointed Lord, he did a lot of diplomatic missions for The order of Light, as a Knight of Rahn.Especially the dwarves from the The Copadurian Empire took a liking to him, maybe because he shared their passion for eating good food.
Zachary was responsible for brokering several good deals with The Copadurian Empire, for various ore, including Cold Steel, putting him in good standing with the The Council of Elders and the Erekian Nobility.
After being appointed
Eventually his hard work paid off, and The Council of Elders decided to appoint him Lord. Rather than receiving a fief or land, they gave him the task of expanding Erekiath's territory into The Wildlands.Education
As all Erekian Lords, Zachary was trained as a Knight of Rahn in the protection wing of the Temple of Light, where he showed exemplary skills in diplomacy and etiquette.
It is rumored that he lacks the appropriate combat skills to be a knight, although it would then be near impossible for him to become a Knight of Rahn.

Most Knight of Rahn are taught an additional language as part of their education in diplomacy. Zachary learned early in his life that he had a knack for languages, and decided to pick up a few more. He is fluent in Erekian, Elvast the language of the elves, Grim Tongue the language of the orcs, and Copadurian the language of the The Snowy Peaks, also known as The Copadurian Empire.
Knowing not only the spoken words and syntax but also having a deep understanding of the cultural aspects of the language often gives him an edge when dealing with people from the respective nations.
