Early Life

Birth and Life on Gazza's Island

Gerove Prospero was born on the 3rd of August in the year 1444 in the town of Brighton, on Gazza's island. He lived on the island, until his tenth birthday. He worked from the age of 4, due to his relative poverty. It is worth noting, however, that poverty on Gazza's island is not akin to poverty on mainland Pentos. Poverty on mainland Pentos is far more extreme, as there is not form as health service or benefits on mainland Pentos, unlike Gazza's island. The support on Gazza's island has been described as extreme, this could be because Gazza is a benevolent leader, and cares greatly for the people he rules over. That and he owns the banks.
Anyway, Prospero worked for many years doing different jobs around the town. he worked at the docks, loading and unloading ships, he was (briefly) a ship builder, but quit due to an excess of splinters and finally he had a job at the world famous fish and chips shop, shiver me kippers. It was here, that Prospero first really started to talk to pirates and traders and sailors. This led to a fruitful career as a pirate/ trader. Whilst working in the chippy, Prospero met Gazza for the first time. This was as Gazza frequented the chippy often. Gazza was very impressed with his work, and general ability to read and write (which he needed to use menus). He was then invited to work for Gazza due to his abilities. He was only 8 at the time. He offered graciously.
Prospero worked for Gazza for the next 8 years. He worked by writing his letters for him, bringing him his books and tea, running errands, looking after his animals. And such. He worked very well for Gazza, noted as being one of his best employees. On his sixteenth birthday, Gazza awarded Prospero with a 5 year course at The Pirate school on Forest. This was due to the fact that Gazza knew that it was Prospero's dream to one day become a kind of pirate merchant. So Prospero thanked Gazza, and set off on his journey to Forest.

Travel to Forest

Prospero did not travel with Gazza, due to Gazza being a very busy person. Gazza organised Prospero's journey with a group of trustworthy merchants leaving Gazza's island to sail for Kings Keep. The journey would take several weeks, due to the ship stopping in several cities to trade and gather resources to take beyond. The first place that the ship stopped at was a city in the House Reed lands, called Steed. They stayed for two days at Steed, and Prospero hated every second of it. He found Steed dirty, depressing and grim. Due to Prospero never leaving Gazza's island, he had never known a place like it. It was quite a shock. He spent as much time as possible on the ship, to avoid the city itself. They then set off for another city, this time much farther south. This city was called Salt Shore, the capitol city of House Sand. This city was very much a contrast to the city of Steed. The streets where clean, freshly cobbled and sometimes even had freshly stone-paved streets. The city architecture was not as depressing as Steeds, much cleaner and more intricate. The city was seemingly made of sandstone, and the hot sun bounced off the walls. This place was hotter than any place that Prospero had been. Even though Gazza's island had been very hot, this was nothing like this. It was sweltering. He also noted the fact that the great rock that House Sand ruled from was one of the most breathtaking things he had ever seen. The ship then sailed for Martell, another city in the domains ruled by House Sand. This journey is noted by many sailors to be extremely difficult due to the immense heat from the sun, and the unforgiving weather. Prospero did not enjoy this journey, he doesn't remember this part of his voyage to Forest in a good light. Then, after about a week of sailing, they arrived at the city of Martell. His time in Martell was odd to say the least. When he arrived, he could feel from the fest of the crew that they where anxious. They where planning to stay less than a day. He was confused as too why, but he let it slide and walked into the city. He found the weather difficult, the bearing sun and the desert as a whole. The sky was clear. The sailors left quickly, after buying foods and water and such. As they left, Prospero could see the city being destroyed by Vulturess, and then he understood. They then sailed for a day too Forest.

His time in the pirate school

When he arrived at Forest, he found the climate much more akin to the climate of that of the north of Pentos. It was the year 1460. The days where colder, and the winds where harsher here. The crew of the ship he was being transported him that this was the best conditions to become a pirate under. From the ship, Prospero could see the island. It was jagged and dangerous looking. He could see the pine trees that covered the entire surface of the island, where they could, and the jagged grey-black rocks filling the gaps where the trees where absent. there was a port to the southern side of the island, and that is where the crew docked. they docked and said fair well to Prospero, and wished him luck with his training. Along side the ship his sailed in on, which by the way was named The Dairy Duke, was a much grander and larger ship. This ship had a name written on the side, the name The 'Snedgus'. It was much more expensive-looking than the much simpler looking ' The Dairy Duke '. From the ship emerged a child, a very similar age to Prospero, if not the same age, and he walked away towards the entrance to The Pirate school. After looking at some of the other ships docked, Prospero himself wandered into the school (he was quite amazed by some of the ships). He was given a dormitory key but some of the 'members of staff', or as much staff-like as you can get at a pirate school. His was put in dormitory 432. He entered the room too see two other people, around his age, also in the room. They introduced themselves as Ragnarr MacReed and Femmy Fatal. Prospero took an instant liking to Femmy Fatal, and he (however briefly) made quick friends with Ragnarr MacReed. The classes where sorted the next day. Prospero, Femmy and Ragnarr where all sorted into the same class (class of thirty). There was 2 classes, Class A and class B. They where to stay in these classes for the next 5 years.
Prospero, as expected by Gazza, excelled in all his classes. The classes they where taught where; Sailing, Rope tying, Sword fighting, Archery, Athletics, Mathematics, Pentosi writing, Geography, fishing, other languages, Creature classes and of course thievery. He passed each year at the top of his class, in every class but archery, due too his sheer inability to shoot an arrow. Prospero being an (pretty much) all round great pirate at school, led Ragnarr MacReed to start to resent Prospero and his friend, Femmy Fatal. Another reason that Ragnarr grew to resent Femmy and Prospero is that they would stay up to the dead of night talking. Ragnarr couldnt sleep, and spent 5 years on 2-4 hours sleep. They would study together, and eventually as they grew closer, would sneak out the window into the woods to go to the pirate town, on the northern side of the island. It was about an hours walk, so they could go and get back for 5 am. Ragnarr looked forward to these nights, simply so he could sleep. Eventually, they graduated the school in the year 1465, and Prospero finished at the very top of his class. for this, he was awarded a boat, as the person who passes top of every class gets awarded boat. Prospero thought the boat was the most elegant and beautiful thing he had ever seen, even though it was smaller and less decorated as the 'Snedgus' he saw 5 years earlier. But the boat was his, and nothing could beat that. That day, Gerove Prospero became Captain Gerove Prospero. It was a monumental monumental in his life. The boat was small enought so it could be sailed by only two people (with some difficulty), but hold up too 20. He boarded the vessel, put his hand on the helm and found peace. He, at that moment, decided to call this boat 'The well cubed', after his catchphrase 'Well, well ,well'. He invited both Ragnarr MacReed and Femmy Fatal to join his crew. Femmy accepted graciously, but Ragnarr decline. He still resented Prospero, but Prospero didn't seem to notice. So off, the crew of The well cubed set sail, for Gazza's island.

After graduation

Early travels

It took the crew of The well cubed a week and a half to sail from Forest to Gazza's island. The wind was behind them, their sails where full and they made no stops to make the best time they could. They arrived on the island, greeted by a parade on the streets to mark the return of Prospero, and his graduation from The Pirate school. The streets where decorated in thew black and blue colours of the pirate school, and bunting was held down the streets. Gazza had organised it all, and they celebrated for two days. Prospero and Fatal bought a small house to the north of the Island with some money that Gazza had gifted them as a homecoming present. The spent approximately a year milling around the island, having a well deserved break after 5 years of study. They farmed the land, grew some crops, worked on their boat, and talking to sailors coming in and out of the port of Brighton. This is where Prospero met with Ragnarr MacReed and some members of his family. It turns out, that the whole of the MacReeds have a strong disliking of Prospero. This is likely due to Ragnarr MacReed complaining to his family about him. After this, Prospero and Femmy decided that they had, had enough of Gazza's island and that they need to travel and move on, to expand their wealth and use their degree. So Femmy and prospero went down to the market in Brighton, and bought some supplies for their ships, and also 3 barrels of ale brewed in George Lucas' brewery on the island. They said their goodbyes to Gazza and set sail for Steed.
They arrived at Steed. They unloaded the barrels of Ale, and sold them in the market for a reasonably hefty price. The made a good profit, enough to buy another 2 dozen barrels of ale from Gazza's island. This is due to the fact that the shipment of Ale from Gazza's island to the mainland at this time was very limited, as not many people where risking the potential easy loss of profit. That and the brewery was fairly new and unknown. They sailed back, bought the barrels, and set sail for Steed again, once again to make a hefty profit. For about a year Prospero made this run, whilst also mixing in runs to Salt Shore and to Tyrell every once and while when Prospero and Femmy where bred on the same, hazardous journey. However, after about a year (and after Prospero and Femmy made a small fortune of about 40 GP), they decided that they wanted to move out and explore more of the world, and do some treasure hunting whilst at it. They first sailed for Wun Wun, due to Femmy always wanting to visit it. The found the city to be a slightly nicer Steed, as Prospero put it, though in his opinion that wasn't difficult. They found the outer city quite dark, and almost depressing, due to the cold and black stonian architecture. However, the older Ahtroni buildings in the centre much nicer. They visited the college at Wun Wun to see how it compared to The Pirate school, they found it vastly different. In fact, somehow, the Pirate school is a lot more uniformed and organised. They both where in awe of the statue of one Ciad Sand at the school, some of the best stone work they had ever seen. They stayed in the city for a few months, talking to the peoples and asking about potential treasures dotted around Pentos. They found nothing here, and thus decided to move on. The spent the next year jumping from city to city, port to port. The visited many many coastal towns and cities along the south west and western coasts of Pentos. They spoke with mages on the The Island of Aglonby, discussing the history of Pentos, Gazza and how important is it to protect the orb. They travelled to Kings keep, where they met with many esteemed sailors and merchants. They went as far north as the lands of House Randill, finding the weather too cold and morbid. That, and Prospero could not understand the accents. He moved on, back down south. They set sail directly back to the isle of forest.

Back on forest and the pirate council

They arrived in the pirate city, sailing into the little in-cove. They sailed through the natural archway, into the dock. This was the busiest the dock had been in quite some time. He moored his boat out on the wooden platforms. They paid, and they set foot across the harbour, and into the city. It didn't take him long to notice that infact, the whole of the MacReed Pirate Band where in fact docked in the city. Prospero and Fatal did not worry about this, due to the fact that even tough Ragnarr MacReed seemingly hated Prospero and Femmy, they had nothing personally against him, apart from the fact he wasn't a very good pirate. They would in fact relish the idea of becoming friends with Ragnarr once again, much like the first few weeks at The Pirate school. They walked past "The Snedgus". They made their way into the town, they both knew where they would find the MacReeds. They made an assumption, and they where right. The dock was very busy, that could only mean one thing, the pirate lords where assembling.
Femmy and Pospero made their way into the main building, the great pirate hall, in the centre on the pirate town. The town itself was made out of a mass of old ships hobbled together to make a tall spiky structure, with masts and hills and cannons sticking out all over the place. This made for a huge structure, with many floors and halls. At the top of this structure, is the greatest and grandest of the halls, inside of a grand old ship known as "The goldhound", which was the ship of the first pirate king, Pirate King Jacob Collaart. Inside on the hull of the Goldhound, the pirate lords meet in council to discuss matters of the seas. The pirate lords meet very rarely, so it is a huge deal, and many people flock to the pirate city to catch a glimpse of the pirate lords meeting. Inside of the great dull, there is a great old sculpted table in the centre, with 10 chairs assembled around it. The chairs are all decorated greatly, with the sigils and flags of the great pirate families. At the head of the table is the throne of the Pirate King, no one has sat in it for 400 years. The 9 pirate lords all sat upon their chairs, and the tome of the pirate code sat in the centre of the table, assisted by the 2 tome bearers. This was the great council of 1466. The table was surrounded on all sides (and above) by cornered off people behind a fence squirming to get a view at the front. Prospero and Femmy were among these people, with many other lesser pirates. The noise was immense. Ragnarr, and his sister and mother, where all stood behind Arik MacReed, who was sat on the great chair of the pirate house of the Macreeds. All the other pirate lords where present, such as Jean Collaart, the leader of the pirate house Collaart, and also Pirate Don, of the pirate Don lineage. Lord Vorchei Mormont was also present, as a Mormont is always present at the council. This meeting was assembled to discuss whether or not it should be legalised to loot Pentosi vessels. The council debated for 6 hours, before deciding that it should be made illegal, to help improve relations with the major houses, meaning their traded wouldn't be taxed as heavily. The council also debated on other smaller issues, such as legal action against the McRedds for stealing the MacReeds name, the idea of an establishment of an alliance between great pirate houses was once again brought up, whether swamps root should be traded, and to elect a pirate king as always. As every time, all the pirates voted for themselves. And the council ended. The public where moved out and the pirate lords dispersed. Femmy and Prospero headed back to their ship, but decided to stop by at the ship "The eerie", the ship of Ragnarr MacReed. They both waited there, until Ragnarr, Rudy MacReed (Ragnarr's twin sister who graduated the pirate school a year before Prospero, Femmy and Ragnarr) and their father Arik MacReed. At the sight of Prospero, Ragnarr yelled violently at Femmy and Prospero, saying this and that about how dare they enter his ship. Rudy and Arik laughed. At this point, Arik looked Prospero up and down and turned to Ragnarr and said
I can see how you were beat by a peasant for the ship at pirate school, boy.
This made Rudy chuckle, and Ragnarr go red. Arik excused himself, and left Rudy aboard Ragnarr's ship. Prospero turned to see a small white kitten, with beautiful blue and green eyes, leaping furiously at him. He put his hand out and caught it in hid hand, around the chest. The cat screamed furiously at Prospero, and clawed and his arm, and bit into his thumb. Rudy took Neptune the cat out of Prosperos arms, and threw it through the window into Ragnarrs cabin. It was clear that Ragnarr was clearly training the cat to attack Prospero on sight. This made Prospero both laugh, and sad as he just wanted to be Ragnarrs friend. Ragnarr once again demanded that Prospero and Femmy leave his ship immediately, going more red by the second, but Rudy interrupted and greeted Prospero and Femmy graciously, and excused for her brothers behaviour. Rudy, Prospero and Femmy talked for several minuets, before being cut off once again by a very angry Ragnarr, demanding they leave the ship. Prospero and Femmy excused themselves, and said their goodbyes to Rudy. She seemed nice. Femmy and Prospero made their way back to The well cubed. They went to bed. The next morning they left Forest.

The next few years of his life

For the next few years, they travelled the seas, trading and occasionally finding treasure on islands that he would travel too. He did not limit himself to the islands of Pentos. He travelled to the far east, to the far west. He even tried venturing north, but he found it to be cold and icy. And dangerous, due to the white bears and glaciers or icebergs. He once tried to sail to the south, but found only vast ocean and no land. This time was, like i said, mostly spend trading and travelling. This is the time when he made most of his money.

The war of the 2 kings

When he heard that the war had started across pentos in April 1471, he traveled back to Gazza's island. He arrived in late May. He spoke to Gazza, who asked him to help him protect the innocent people of Bear Island. Prospero and Femmy agreed, and they set sail for Bear island. This took them several weeks. They moored in the dark of night on the northern part of bear island in the dead of night. They snook their way into the city Sailstead. Here, he stayed for several several weeks. He helped the poor and oppressed people, stealing them food and helping them lead raids to try to fight back. On the 29th Of September, the siege of bear island started, and swiftly ended.

Personality Characteristics

Savvies & Ineptitudes

He is a very good pirate, due to his training at The Pirate school and just generally from sailing around. Being a good pirate, he is of course a good sailor and swordsman. He is good at reading maps. He, however, is much more suited to the sea than too land, so he fairs better at sea, and often can grow ill staying on land too long.

Likes & Dislikes

He likes Gazza, Ryan Renolds and Jon Snow. He loves his wife Femmy Fatal and his boat The well cubed. He also could not live without his sword, boots, hat and coat.
He wants to be friends with Ragnarr MacReed, but this is not proving fruitful as Ragnarr MacReed has a random and undeserved hatred for Prospero. Something about him being a much better pirate.

Wealth & Financial state

Being a very successful pirate, Captain Prospero is a fairly wealthy man. He keeps all his money, however, in a bank on Gazza's island due to his dangerous life. He is leaving his money to Femmy Fatal in case of his death. He has aquired a large amount of money over the years, from trading and plunder. Its esimated that his overall net worth is about 70 GP (105,000).
