Session 61: Beyond the Veil Report in Pathfinder Pirates | World Anvil

Session 61: Beyond the Veil

General Summary

When we arrive in the capital city, all is calm. Ozoss hasn't unleashed the apocalypse and our ship is fine. Catani is briefed on the situation and while we leave to murder Deralus for tricking us, she goes to update Inami. We cross paths with a strange half-elf riding around on a magic carpet. He finds it weird that a bunch of rough looking people are stalking around in the dead of night. The mutual interest in each other has us all stopping for a quick conversation. The stranger introduces himself as Veil and upon hearing what it is we're about to do, he offers to take us into the dreamscape of Deralus...just so we can beat him up in his mind and in reality.   We're sold and so Veil joins us, leading us into the luxurious city that Deralus calls his mind. Near a sprawling palace and garden, Deralus is preaching the good word of his lord and catalyst of destruction, Ozoss. With the support of the people, they can build a better future alongside the lich. Veil attempts to twist Deralus' mind into a nightmare, but even in sleep, Deralus is prepared to fight. He turns the spell back on Veil, so while the rest of us kick the shit out of Deralus, poor Veil is left to fight a kraken that no one else can see. When nothing of substance turns up from the dream interrogation, we go back to reality, and raid Deralus' home to continue beating him.   We're given directions to the hideout of his fellow cultists, then TT blows his brains out. I turn him into a treasure map, which leads us to a hidden hoard of gold beneath the house. Besides Ozoss' lair and the cultist base, the final point on the map goes inland to a small town called Treska. We burn the house down and return to the ship. When Ozoss sees the map, he points to the hideout and tells us that the last time he was there, forty of his "friends" were there. That was centuries ago though and he doesn't recognize the name "Maurice Wiggins" when asked.   He marks his original lair on the map; an island near Valimar called Murlock. Amelia has a talk with Ozoss about his phylactery, which he crafted from a puzzle box. She thinks that's cool, but has a better idea for her own, totally hypothetical phylactery. All it requires is TT's indestructible, magical chest. The location of Ozoss' phylactery is still unknown. Veil points out that the Wayfinder of Many Paths that Cambri's daughter had given us leads into a cavern. We bid everyone farewell and instruct Ozoss to stay away from Nathan, who was unable to be freed from Aliego's mark. We take Darcie and Veil with us, and step into what looks like a study room.   It's been used fairly recently, so we decide to leave the room untouched until we can confirm whether or not we're alone in here. Down the hall, a waterfall pours down into a pool of water. Cavern entrances line the walls, but most of us choose to go into the water. Darcie and Cayde stay up top, both hearing something approaching us from one of the many tunnels.
