Session 60: Liar, Liar, Fools for Hire Report in Pathfinder Pirates | World Anvil

Session 60: Liar, Liar, Fools for Hire

General Summary

The rest of our journey to Elspeth is uneventful. The city itself sits on a river and it's obvious that they do well for themselves. The Solaris Estate hasn't been turned into a museum and remains a private residence for his family. The Museum of Heroes is open though and knowing that Mungo is on display in there, we throw on some disguises, and head in. Our disguises are so ridiculous that one of the proprietors of the museum instructs us to enter through the back door. They think we're actors for the reenactment they're presenting today. TT acts as our stage manager and once we're inside, she parts ways with us to scout ahead on her own. The rest of us leave the backstage area, only for the same suited man from earlier to approach us.   We're supposed to be a part of the play, so why the hell are we wandering around? We explain that we want to look around for inspiration, so he sends us off with a kenku tour guide. The constant shift of voices and attitudes from Susie may be normal for her kind, but deep down, I'm convinced that she's being held hostage. When we reach the weapons room, it's surprisingly devoid of other patrons despite the crowds at the other exhibits. Amelia and Darcie detect that there's a magic alarm on Mungo, as well as permanency for an unknown transmutation spell. TT catches up with us after the other exhibits failed to pique her interest. Susie refuses to do anything we tell her to do, but TT manages to shoo her out of the room.   This leaves us alone with the broadsword. The alarm's dispelled, TT wraps the sword up to place in her bag, and I use magic to create a replica sword to take its place. TT leaves immediately after hiding Mungo in her bag. The rest of us trickle out afterwards, only to realize that we didn't establish a place to meet-up once everything was done. While TT waits for us in a nearby inn, she takes Mungo out to play with it. Mungo can allegedly control lightning and thunder, so she's excited to see if she can conjure a stray bolt from it, and potentially burn the inn down. Cayde leads us along her trail until we're back together...and TT triggers the transmutation magic on Mungo.   Susie told us that spell was to change the size of the sword, but we've been played. The sword on display was a fake and turns into a mundane, wooden sword once the spell is activated. We're all pissed off and decide that we'll raid the Solaris Estate tonight. Our main objective is finding the Song of Extinction, but if they happen to have Mungo too, that's even better for us. While our raid didn't turn up the items we were looking for, it was still a success. TT found herself a Migrus Locker, which gifted her a creepy construct shaped like a cat. Amelia found official documents stating that a kingdom owes the Solaris family a favor. Thankfully, the papers aren't addressed to the family specifically, so we can use it in the future. Many wayfinders are found and gold is acquired, so we make our way into the master's quarters to interrogate the family.   Amelia dominates their minds, though the spell's only successful on the husband of Cambri's daughter. After threatening the lives of their children and their dogs if they ever speak of our "visit", they assure us that they'll keep quiet. Neither of them have heard of the Song of Extinction, not even her father himself. Cambri's daughter hasn't heard from him in ages, so she assumes that he's dead. She gives us a Wayfinder of the Stars that he used in the past. It'll lead us directly to him, presuming he's still alive, but there's a more pressing issue to deal with. Deralus Magoniy, the sylph who hired us, played us like a fiddle.   We knew the gold he offered was too good to be true, but we fell for it anyways. He wanted to free Ozoss, who's now aboard our ship. It's a race against time and despite robbing the Solaris family blind, Cambri's daughter teleports us to the city where our ship is docked.
