Session 57: Quit Dragon Your Feet Report in Pathfinder Pirates | World Anvil

Session 57: Quit Dragon Your Feet

General Summary

Our trip to the Storyteller's Guild takes a detour as we decide to do some shopping. TT gets the Gun Formerly Known as Paul magically enchanted to make up for the lack of sentience and sass and I leave my prosthetic at an engineer's shop to get it outfitted with a dartgun. The Storyteller's Guild is a cozy looking place full of dramatic theater kids who don't take too kindly to the riff-raff we bring. It does little to deter us from terrorizing them while we can, but given that we're here for work, bullying artists with parental problems and troubled souls will have to wait for another day. After coughing up some coin to have access to their job board, we're greeted by all sorts of ridiculous requests.   A dragon was defeated a few towns over, but no one's been able to find its treasure hoard. A wizard in the city of Kent summoned demons for whatever reason, but he's unable to control them, so he's willing to give everything he has to stop their mayhem. There's a multi-plane scavenger hunt put on by the local cartographer's guild and the daughter of powerful mage who is desperately looking for him after he polymorphed himself into a cup in order to study a dragon. As interesting as these are, our attention is caught by a job posted by Deralus Magoniy. He's willing to pay 800,000 gold to those who are able to retrieve an artifact for him, which lies within the lair of a dracolich.   The artifact in question is a music box that's capable of playing the "Song of Extinction", which is a bardic masterpiece capable of causing a great catastrophe to occur. Earthquakes split the ground beneath the performer's feet, swallowing up any living creature within a hundred feet of them. These victims are trapped in the earth and suffocate, their deaths preventing the bard from aging. The job nails everything we're looking for; massive amounts of gold, a hoard of treasure, and a terrible beast to slay. Unfortunately, Amelia isn't a big fan of giving the music box to Deralus if we do find it, but the reward is too good to pass up. We go and meet this bard, coming up a surprisingly humble home owned by a sylph.   Said sylph being Deralus himself, who informs us that he wants it in order to destroy it. He's clearly leaving some details out and without much prodding, he admits that he owned the music box long ago. When he was young and stupid, he mastered the Song of Extinction...and promptly killed most of his family. As an act of retribution, he intends to learn the song in reverse, which will cause the music box to explode. It'll kill him instantly, but he's accepted his fate. We agree to take the job, but given that we don't trust him fully, we intend to play the box before returning it to prevent him from using it to kill us and take back his gold.   We head back to the ship to alert the other officers and decide who's coming along for the fight. Nathan, Nyctos, and Darcie are picked for the mission. Before we make plans to leave town, Amelia takes Nyctos aside to help her during a blood ritual to summon another undead companion.
