Session 55: Homeward Bound Report in Pathfinder Pirates | World Anvil

Session 55: Homeward Bound

General Summary

Instead of immediately turning this town into a bloodbath, we hit the bar to drink away our trauma. Despite the hearty amount of alcohol we all consume, it's clear that the bartender's been watering his supply down, leaving us to face said trauma without anything to dull it. After a public callout, we make our leave and go pick up the reward we were promised for this job. The half-elf who originally posted the contract moved out of town months ago, as did many others because surprise! People aren't fond of living in places where their neighbors turn up missing every few weeks. The dwarf now running the town hall agrees to pay us 10k and an extra 5k gold for allegedly finding the corpses of the missing children.   After telling them a harrowing tale of dire wolves tearing them apart, he doesn't ask for proof. Still not satisfied, we kill him, steal his keys, and begin searching for the vault. While TT and Amelia have their own ideas as to its location, I read the blueprint they found and lead them to whatever is left of this town's riches. With no point in raiding a soon-to-be ghost town, we steal some horses, and ride off to the previous port town. In the months we've been gone, this town has turned itself around. Walls were built, guards were hired, and there's a small fee to enter. We visit the magic shop, which is now owned by a centaur named Perrasius Galinthe. Instead of causing trouble, we acquire our magic items legally.   TT sells the book of blood contracts with Azathoth, ensuring that she has a beefy retirement fund in place, and we head to a nearby inn. Since we acquired a helmet of teleportation for the party, I'm sent back to the ship to see how far out from shore they are. After catching up with Catani and Inami, I'm told they're at least a week away, but Inami suggests I have Julius teleport the others here and avoid the trip all together. He agrees to do it and begrudgingly brings along the horses we stole. And while he gathers us up, Inami puts together a meeting with all of the officers so no one's left in the dark about our disappearance. TT excuses herself for much of the meeting, so me and Amelia explain our ordeal in vivid detail.   While some of the officers are startled, all of them are interested. Surprisingly, no one doubts our story, probably because Julius is able to confirm that it sounds in line with what he knows of pocket dimensions. After the story's concluded, we hand over 13k in gold and jewels to show that we were thinking of them while we were gone. The crew had originally stayed put at the port town for a whole month, both to finish some odd jobs they took and to wait for our return. When we failed to turn up, they had no choice but to leave in order to keep bringing in coin. They took the elven spy, Estus, back to Valimar. He filed his report on the rival nation, and his people were grateful to have him back.   The crew was gifted a bunch of gold for his safe return and are on favorable terms with Valimar's government. As such, they were able to safely upgrade the ship. TT suggests we stay in their waters and complete any contracts they put out, to which we all agree. We conclude the meeting by promoting Inami and Julius to the admiralty board and then part ways for the night. Amelia and Nathan make plans to dissect my imposter corpse to see what they can learn about the pocket dimension and invite me to be a part of the process.
