FUC Military-Police
"Quis custodiet ipsos custodes? Falias might have bypassed the need for police entirely with their martial-law, but that doesn't mean they're above the need for internal affairs to be looked over and legitimate criminal-investigations to commence in the aftermath of a crime, hence the MPs. They're on a whole different chain of command from the Colonial Army, answer only to the higher echelons of command, and have the sort of authority that makes the regular FCA brass feel the way the colony's civilians do. General Carras insists that ethics make up a lot of their training, but the automatic-shotguns tell a different tale."
"Slow but inevitable, that's the way of the MPs. The old girl's tied in a mess of red-tape - inherited from legacy legislation from the DCFP - that makes the system slow on the uptake, but once the force gets going there's not much that can actually stop 'em. Blockading a street and firing at anything that moves with stolen milsurp helps, but it's just buying you time.General Carras isn't exactly fond of how they tend to operate outside of conventional military structure and impede her own forces' works, but glumly accepts that having someone to keep the local military personell in line and not cause too much trouble for the local civilians is a worthwhile trade-off."
Structure
The FUC Military Police are organised under the Bureau of Investigational-Command, and operate on a broad and somewhat flat hierarchy, minimizing delegation whenever possible. Candidates are procured from conventional recruitment-pools based on a classified system of merit, or (less frequently) from general military and/or civil populations in exceptional circumstances. MPs are loosely grouped into various specialisations and merits, and have the authority to comandeer conventional military facilities and staff as investigations require.
Public Agenda
The MP's stated purpose is to provide a 'link of accountability' towards the FUC and FCA, taking on not only the majority of investigative/forensic work of civil law-enforcement but also taking responsability of enforcing laws and regulations within the military, investigating crimes and assigning punishments as needed.
Assets
The quantity of standing-assets owned by the Military Police are small on paper, consisting primarily of forensics facilities, basic vehicles and easily-concealable sets of tools, recording-devices and basic weaponry. However, the MPs have full authority to comandeer assets from the FUC to aid in their investigation, up to and including military mechanised-chassis, surface-to-orbit vehicles and - if 'released' by the presiding General of the FUC - tactical kinetic-strike weapons, along with the staff needed to operate such.
