Anusis

Deep within the roaming sands, lays the enduring city of Anusis. Sitting on the north and south side of the Theuban River, the settlement is surrounding by giant sandstone walls, towering 4 stories high. They act as a barrier to keep out dangerous creatures, rogues, and the elements. The city is the only known major settlement within the entire charted desert.

Government

A "Minarchy" manages the defense and keeps the peace of the city. It is the belief of the people of Anusis, that governments only role is to protect its citizens from aggression, and nothing else. As a result the city experiences an economic boom in free trade, religious freedom, and relative peace. While it's risky to travel outside of the city, since the only focus by the government is to see its people be protected, crime is extremely unheard of, and transgressions against your fellow Anusian is of the greatest sin someone can commit. In the same light, however, the people have developed a tolerance for expression, ideas, and debate. It is considered a greater sin to stifle another's right to expression of individuality than it is to steal their coin.

Defences

The city is protected by Kalashtar Guards who work to actively protect civilians from outside harm, settle civil disputes, and apprehend criminals. The Kalashtar Guard is made of skilled fighters, but each is also adept in diplomacy as well as spells that help resolve conflicts peacefully such as ‘command, calm emotions, etc” Inside the Palace however, the Elite Guard can be found, which are given the duty to protect the city’s religious and administrative sites. The entire combined force is made up of 300 individuals.

Industry & Trade

Since there is no organized economic structure, the free market gives way to many businesses. Those who are wealthier are purely based on their own skills, whether that be in craft, or understanding how to manipulate markets. A shop in the heart of the city buys ALL items at a low price, and resells them at a higher price. The shop is criticized for producing none of its own goods, but is often turned to when others are seeking financial loans. As a result the shop acts as the city’s bank or lending service as well.

Infrastructure

The city sits on the north and south banks of the Theuban River. It mimics an egyptian style architecture and is circular in nature with a sandstone wall acting as a barrier from the desert. Due to the flowing river, it has a rope guided ferry way that helps with crossing each side.

Assets

Dreamer’s Sanctum, a special place for the enlightened to connect with their heritage and the plane of dreams.   Transport: Small barges are used to transport goods or people across the theuban between each side of the city. Slightly bigger barges can be commissioned to travel down the river, but are often disassembled once reaching their destination or sold to someone else going further down river since no technology exists to flow up river. Economy: A free market with absolutely no regulation. Prices are variable depending on supply and what the merchants ‘feels’ its worth. This gives a slight variation on what people may consider something worth, but there is a common consensus on things that are in higher demand, since if you price something too high, it just won't sell. Goods sold mostly arrange from self crafted jewelry, pottery, ceramic, macromei, weaved baskets, sewn cloth, food, and other trinkets.

Architecture

The buildings here mimic an Egyptian style. Common buildings are single rooms with all of the family's assets in full display. More moderate to wealthier citizens may have walls around their dwellings, food storages, gardens, and even a second story. The south side of the city contains an administrative buildings, and religious structures.
