Mikal, Karl
Karl Mikal is a demolitions technician working for the various mining operations based out of Pandora Station. He is the widow of Mikal, Suze and the father of Mikal, Hex.
Though not a native belter, Karl was active in belterlabor movements in his earlier days. After the birth of his son Karl, though, decided he needed to "keep his nose clean" and focus on the welfare of his son. It was only because of pressure from Bowman, Don and Wolf, Geri that he not only became newly active but in fact became the face of the movement on Pandora.
Don and Geri had good reason to want Karl to become involved in The Struggle. Firstly, his work made him well-placed for the work that needed doing. Karl is highly skilled and therefore in demand in all the mining operations throughout the region overseen by Pandora station. This means he's well-placed for organizing a wide range of laborers. It is his story, though, that makes him truly valuable to The Struggle. Suze was a beloved member of the community and a hero to those whose family members were saved by her sacrifice. The price she paid then and at the hands of the corporation are emblematic.
Karl is intelligent and naturally charismatic. The same discipline and focus that makes him exceptional in demolitions also serve him well as an organizer and leader. Through it all, though, his primary concern has been the health and welfare of his son, whom he is terrified of losing as he lost his wife.
