Freshly landed on Amana, the group gathered their things and began to figure out what their next steps were. A helpful town map was picked up as it flew past with the wind. A light drizzle began. Aurum's shoulders, while still formal and proud, relaxed a little. He was clearly happy to be home.
The group gathered their things and made their way to the Armory Outpost. As they travel the streets, they can feel the weight of the quarantine on the citizens. The town is still alive and moving, but people are weary and drained. As they enter the Outpost, it is quiet and empty save one knight: Sir
Murphy. Her normally chipper attitude has been blunted by her responsibilities. Aurum introduced the band of unexpected travellers to her and her demeanor perks up - help, at last.
As the
Oddbasilians and
Lunatics settled in, the trio asked if sir Murphy could use any help. She told them of strange reports about a man offering some kind of cure all and of a knight that hadn't reported in for over a day. Intrigued by the strange reports, the party asked for more information.
As sir Murphy began to tell them about it, a
Gracefolk man burst through the door. Out of breath, he tried to ask for help. He held up his left hand which was frozen in a single pose with a shiny, silvery sheen. His aunt and uncle's farm was visited by this strange halfling man offering them help. He turned his uncle unto a metal statue, and when the man saw this, panicked and came out of the farmhouse to confront him. When he did, yue halfling man tried to cast a spell on him, but he shielded his eyes with his hand. As he ran here, his hand seized up and the change slowly crept up his wrist. He told them that he is unsure of the state of his cousin and aunt.
The party got the location of his farm and went to gather animals to travel out there.
Sara Gallach, the local herder, rented them 3
Oxstriches to ride out to the farm.
They arrived early afternoon to see three statues in front of the farmhouse, two seemingly dragged out from inside. Ryz and Adeline approached as Aurum rode around keeping an eye out for a runner. As they approached, they could hear rustling inside. Ryz decided to climb up to the second floor as Adeline snuck around to see if she could see anyone on the first floor.
Ryz, searching through the bedrooms upstairs found them lightly tossed - clearly lightly searched, not ransacked. As they approached the stairs, they heard hurried shuffling on the first floor. Meanwhile, Adeline peeked through the windows of the first floor, slowly making her way around the house. As she approached the kitchen windows at the back of the house she saw him. The halfling man was desperately searching for something in a panic.
With silent agility, she entered the kitchen through a window. Then, in a blur, everything seemed to happen. As Adeline snuck up on him, Ryz rounded the bottom of the stairs. Announcing her presence, the man jumped and ran away, attempting to flee out a window. Aurum dashed his way towards the commotion, Adeline pursued, and Ryz tried to run around to cut him off. He was cornered and jumped for the window. As he did, three things happened in barely a second:
Ryz cast a spell to hold him in place
The man attempted to counter the spell
Aurum used a counter spell from his damaged ring of spell storing
Frozen in place, about to leap into the air, the halfling man was frozen in place. They bound him, disarmed him, and got him ready for travel. They grabbed a cart from the farm to put the family members on, covered them with a tarp, and began making their way back to Seaside.
Along the way, they attempted to interrogate the man. He let three things slip: His name was Breezy, the spell he cast on the people did not work as intended like his Master taught him, and that his Master's name was Breeze.
Upon arrival at the outpost, they quietly brought him into the isolated quarters where he would be held captive over night. The man who came to them for help was asleep, recovering from amputation of his hand since no one could reverse the spell's effects. They asked the entourage if anyone could check on the three farmers who were turned to metal. A few offered to help but had to deliver grim news: there were no signs of life. Two statues of solid silver and one of solid platinum.
The three argued for a while about how to proceed with the halfling man. The weather held them in Seaside for the night, but who would take watch? Should he live? The man whose family was attacked should have some say. He could lead them to his Master, who should also answer for this. And maybe his Master could assist with the plague.
Aurum kept watch over the halfling as Ryz and Adeline decided they could not given their emotional states towards him.
Ryz took a walk to the beach nearby to let their duck swim for a moment. As they did, they were unsettled as a pink haze engulfed a ship in the blockade. An anchor burst from the water's surface, splashing down on the other side of the shift, nearly cutting it in half. Ryz turned and ran, not only fearful of the spirit, but worried about being responsible for his arrival here. Another anchor shot out of the water and sailed towards the shore. As it embedded in the sand, it faded away.
Amana is not well.
