Humanity with the recent discovery of manus overthrows the ruling jotunns and begins hunting down and exterminating them. Some jotunns tired of the barbaric ways of their rulers assist in the coup. After nearly 500 years most of the jotunns have been wiped out and those that weren't hunted down have fled far north to the continent of Payant.

Prehistory
Prehistory - Age of the Jotunns
Before most written history. During this time humanity was ruled and dominated by the Jotunn, they called this Continent Yngvi. At some point Humanity discovered Od and from that the manifestation of one's Manus. This new-found power allowed humanity to overthrow and eradicate the Jotunns. The few surviving Jotunn fled far to the north of Ostara, through the massive mountain range and into the northern continent that would later be known as Payant. This marked the end of Prehistory and the beginning of the rule of mankind.

A chaotic Era in time with little written history or true documentation. This era encompasses the spreading of humanity with untold amounts of conflict and strife. Teaching of manus was rampant and many warlords were formed. Clans and tribes warred with each other constantly. Cities were formed and sacked within years of each other. Eventually a terrible plague swept across the continent, seemingly spreading from those with adept manus abilities. This massive plague crippled the continent. The last 1500 years of this era consisted entirely of humanity rebuilding their civilizations. The death of most magi during this time resulted in the loss of nearly all knowledge on Od and Manus. The lack of manus prevented warlords, kings, or tyrants from spreading their power and influence as easily as before. Thus society as a whole was much smaller in scale then compared to before with no country wide societies being formed.

The Great Plague
Plague / EpidemicA horrific and relentless plague sweeps Ostara killing over half of the human population and leaving the continent in shambles. The plague came without warning and seemed to hit those with Manus abilities most. The resulting chaos caused a great distrust to be associated with ancient Magi and any who had knowledge of Od and manus. Legends claim the plague was of divine origin, a punishment for mankind's abuse of manus and the cruelty enacted upon humanity by other humans
First Era

The First Era begins with humanity having survived the plague and once again rebuilt their societies. Formations of small city-states and then eventual larger and larger cities began to form and absorb each other. During this time many alliances were formed and broken. Countries warred with each other and kings vied for power where ever they could. Larger cities absorbed smaller cities in their respective areas and eventually the 5 great nations were formed. This formation eventual led to a period of stability and general peace for the most part through-out the continent. This end to war and peaceful transition marked the end of the First Era and the beginning of the Second Era.

Foundation of the 5 Great Colleges
FoundingThe 5 Great Colleges are founded, one in each nation, by the top Magi of their time. 1 Magi is designated as a grandmaster and placed in charge of each college. Their goal is to expand their knowledge and understanding of Od and Manus as well as harbor peace between the nations.
Second Era

With the formation of the 5 great nations humanity has prospered. Around the year 2380 of the Second Era an extremely powerful Magi by the name of Samael rose to prominence in the nation of Sarska. He became a sadistic and cruel king. Samael's power was unrivaled. He amassed a massive army of soldiers and even legions of demons. Using this army Samael sought to take over the entire continent, and thus began the War of Horrors, lasting nearly 100 years. This war ultimately ended in the defeat of Sarska and the death of Samael. The end of this war and the rebuilding of the nations marked the end of the Second Era.

War of Horrors
Military actionThe War of Horrors. Named for the sheer brutality waged by Samael Lorkan, King of Sarska. No war has ever come close to the terror caused by this war. Samael destroyed and took over roughly half of Ostara. The never before seen addition of actual demons in his army was unheard of and hasn't been seen since. Those who were lucky died in the raiding of their towns, the unlucky were ravaged and devoured. Men, women, children; it didn't matter. The final battle of the war was said to be so brutal and had so many casualties that there was a 6 inch lake of blood covering the entire field.

The Third Era begins after the death of Samael and the rebuilding of the great nations over the last 20 years. Sarska was hit the harshest as Samael had been a ruthless leader and with his death the remaining demons went on rampages. Those population of Celtsia and Terresant were surprisingly forgiving towards Sarska and assisted in rebuilding some of its infrastructure. Vorkii collapsed into civil war and was split into 4 smaller nations. The 5 Great Colleges persisted through from the Second Era and once again began teaching and guiding new Magi. This is the current Era, the Year is 1711

The War of Roses
Military actionthe 3 largest and most powerful families in Terresant vied for power and warred with each other. The 3 families were: The Laitore Family whose symbol was a golden rose, the Valere family whose symbol was the white rose with large red thorns, and the Bastille family whose symbol was a blue rose. This great war became known as the War of the Roses. Eventually ending in an agreement that the Laitore Family would rule as king, the greatly weakened Valere family was mostly absorbed into the Laitore Family and were given charge of the royal guard/ military, and the Bastille Family would be in charge of policing and justice within the kingdom.

the Celtsian Civil War
RevolutionA bloody 5 year long Civil War located within the country of Celtsia after years of over taxation and abuse through out the country by the ruling and noble families a revolution began that soon encompassed the entire country. Rebellions started in the eastern areas before spreading through out the whole nation. Most of the royal family was executed and many of the noble families suffered the same fate. The Civil War was incited by Diarmid Seerla who served as the rebels leader and diplomat. Diarmid was soon joined by his close friend named Roger Doleracs, an incredibly strong Magi, who served as the military leader and brains behind the rebellions guerilla warfare and subterfuge tactics. Jacques Eventreur, a young magi trained by Roger, was originally also became a prominent name through out the civil war as a notorious and horrifically efficient assassin for the resistance. Diarmid's skills in recruiting entire cities and many noble families to their cause bolstered the resistance's strength while Roger's military strategies and ruthlessness with the aid of Jacques led to the Resistance gaining victory after victory through out the many skirmishes and battles. Eventually resulting in the taking of Gwenfyr, the capital city of Celtsia, and overthrowing the royal family completely. This ended the 5 year civil war in Celtsia and ushered in a new age of peace and prosper in Celtsia under the rule of the new king, Diarmid Seerla.
