Personal history

Born to a Sea elf mother from the Mani tribe of the Redwyrm Islands and a human father he never met. He grew up in the city of Beltin along with his older sister Eris Mithanmyr spending his time in school, learning craftsmanship from his mother, and playing down on the beach with a half elfin boy a two years older than him by the name of Charlie Aelwic. He spent the first few years of his youth learning how to build boats from Charlie's grandfather Tanor Aelwic and causing lite mischief around the city. On the night of his ninth birthday he asked his mother Sariel Mithanmyr who is father was and why he and his sister looked different. Sariel explained saying that they had different fathers and that his was a sailor who didn't spend long in port and wasn't ready for a family while his sister's was about the same expect an elf from the Nazu tribe. Later in the night after he had gone to bed or so his mother thought he snuck out of bed to try and find a sweet treat. He overheard his mother and Tanor speaking, from this he learned that his sisters conception wasn't as pleasant as his mother made it out to be. That night he vowed to get revenge on the man who harmed his mother.
He snuck off into the night once Tanor had left and Eris and Sariel had gone into trance; Cedrick made his way down to the northern docks outside of the city and sailed off to the west hoping to reach the continent of Ashen but instead crashing on the island of Thialascian. He spent a few days trying to get his bearings and in that time befriended a grey cat he named Oron after the grandfather he never met. The cat would come and go happy to eat the pieces of fish Cedrick would give him while Ced built himself a small beach shack. After two weeks of getting to know the animal Cedrick sat by his evening fire expecting his new friend to join him soon. What he did not expect when he heard the soft meows of the creature was for it to bring back a high elf boy around his age. Over the next seven months the two boys shared few words but grew to respect one another. Cedrick would watch the high elf boy he learned to be named Aramil while he worked on school work and Cedrick rebuilt his boat or sketched in the sand.
Towards the end of winter the quiet understanding of friendship and respect he gained with Aramil came crashing down around Cedrick. The simple act of tucking a loose lock of hair behind his ear revealed his half elven race and with it Aramil's prejudice towards them. The hurt he felt at the words reached his core; his mother had told him that there would be some out there who didn't like him based only on how he looked but he never once met one till now. After Aramil left him alone Cedrick packed the few things he had gained over the past months and pushed his small boat out into the sea. Back home he embraced his mother and sister happy to feel their love after the falling out he'd just gone through. He stayed in Beltin for three months all the while feeling the ache to go back out to the sea. Once again on his birthday he began to pack his things to head back out, this time he was caught by his mother. He explained to her his need to go back out and that he promised to return again in seven months time just like he had before. Whether he was convincing or not Sariel let her son go, possibly knowing that once Cedrick set his mind to something there was no stopping him. She and Tanor saw him off from Tanor's personal dock with a sturdy sail boat and supplies to build up a camp.
Three days out at sea and Cedrick found himself back on the beaches he called home a year before but this time determined to change the mind of Aramil and show him that half elves were much more than Aramil thought. It was a week or so before the high elf showed up again but once there he almost never left. Over the next seventeen years the two spent seven months out of the year together with Cedrick going home for the beginning of spring and coming back for the summer. In that time Aramil taught him reading, writing, and maths while Cedrick taught craftsmanship and the arts. They grew closer and closer in those years; to the point that whenever Cedrick went home to Beltin he felt himself miss Aramil with every fiber of his being. Drawing him in his sketchbooks, dreaming up a life in which they would travel the world together making a life that they chose and wasn't chosen for them. Not long after Aramil's fifteenth birthday in mid autumn he was matched with another young high elf women to marry once they were both of age. The rant that ensued after the ceremony drove Cedrick mad, not only was someone he cared for deeply hurting and forced into something he didn't want; he refused to change the circumstances. Cedrick decided to take matters into his own hands and kissed Aramil, effectively shocking him into silence. Cedrick played the situation off as if nothing had happened but in reality he was ecstatic that Aramil had started to spend every moment of free time with him after the kiss.
Ten more years went by and Cedrick grew more and more sure that Aramil was the one he wanted to spend his life with. He knew that elves were not considered adults till there hundredth year, hell his sister nearly had four decades on him and was still treated like a child at times. He was aware that others wouldn't approve of who he had chosen even though he was only a year older than Aramil. In the spring of his twenty sixth birthday while working in his mother's shop alongside her he asked her for advice worried she would think ill of him. She told him that though it was unconventional it was not unheard of especially in Beltin and the Redwyrm islands. She made him promise that he would not try anything with Aramil till he experienced his First Reflection. That would mark the end of childhood and beginning of adolescents for Aramil; Cedrick agreed knowing his mother was right having seen how much a young elf could change after their First Reflection. He knew that most half elves only lived for at most a hundred and fifty years, much more than any human would get but only a fraction of what most elves would have. He had come to terms with the knowledge that most of his loved ones would outlive him but that just meant he needed make as much a mark on their lives as he could. After his birthday he packed his things telling his friends and family that this would be the last trip for a long time and that when he returned next spring it would be with someone very important to him.
Once again he sailed back to the island with a new project in mind; he'd build a boat big enough for both him and Aramil to travel the world in. He knew that leaving would be a shock to Aramil who had left the island a few times for diplomatic missions with his father but it wouldn't have been enough for him to be used to other cultures. So he planed for them to stay in Beltin for a few years before moving on elsewhere. Over the next seven months Cedrick worked tirelessly all the while trying to come up with what he'd say to his mother and sister when he returned with the high elf and how he'd convince him that this was the moment for them to leave. Before he could cement either of these the life he had been building crumbled spectacularly.
As the winter month of Otholn reached it's middle Cedrick sat on the beach listening to the waves crash on the beach. Aramil had just joined him and decided it was time Cedrick had another haircut, to which Cedrick complied knowing that Aramil had grown to love the small point that his ears came to. Once they finished Aramil sat pulling out work and leaning his back against Cedrick's. Cedrick loved when they sat like this, he could feel the salted breeze from the ocean and hear the slow steady breaths of Aramil as he concentrated on a problem. It was perfect as far as Cedrick considered and the only thing that could make it better was just a few days away to the east. The quiet afternoon was interrupted by the yells of what Cedrick would learn to be the high council of the island and Aramil's fiancee. As the group ran over to them he and Aramil quickly packed a few of Cedrick's things and got his small boat ready to go out to sea, leaving behind the larger project that was almost finished. Together they pushed the boat out and once deep enough Cedrick climbed in, before pushing him off for good Aramil placed his family earring in Cedrick's hand a promise that they would find each other again. Cedrick wanted nothing more than to pull Aramil into the boat with him but knew the craft would never be able to hold both of them. As he pulled the sail into place he heard the sound of an explosion behind him. Looking back Cedrick saw the horror stricken face of Aramil and then saw the fireballs headed right to him. His mind barely had time to take in what was happening before the attack was upon him. At the last moment he leaped off the boat raising his arms to protect his head from the extreme heat. Hitting the water he felt his consciousness slip away from him wondering if the one he loved most would fair better then he.
When Cedrick awoke he was not sure how much time had passed, he had been stripped of all his clothing and laid strapped to a cold stone table. He could see how badly he'd been burned and that his right leg was missing from the thigh down. He thought it was strange that he couldn't feel any pain until two high elf man entered the room both who looked as if then knew their arcane arts. One he'd never seen before but the other he saw yelling at Aramil just before the explosion. He looked the man over and knew for sure that this was the dreaded father of his beloved. The older man made Cedrick's blood run cold, the elf named Amdil told him that because of Cedrick's actions Aramil had been killed and that they would get all of the information that Aramil had given him.
For two months Cedrick was held captive and tortured by the unnamed high elf, all the while wishing that the end would come for him. But the elf was far to skilled and kept him alive only just barley. In those two months Cedrick stayed on the edge of death, he knew in his heart that when it finally came for him that even then he'd never see Aramil again for his soul was with the elven god Corellon in Arvandor a place he'd never be allowed. Seventeen years was all he got, it seemed so cruel to him that this world would let him find someone so perfectly imperfect, that he matched with in all the right ways and that it would all be ripped away in the span of just a few moments. Looking up at the face of his captor he heard the sound of the bodies hitting the ground and a moment latter his torture had an arrow in the eye. He thought to himself that this was finally the end and closed his eyes.
When Cedrick opened his eyes again Tanor stood above him with a kind smile, after the older elf left the room his mother and sister took his place. He never thought he'd be so happy to see those two faces but all he wanted to do was curl up by the fire with the two of them holding him close like they did when he was a child after a nightmare. Then the last thing he thought possible happened, looking past Sariel he saw Aramil. Alive and well, maybe a little exhausted but there he was. His platinum blond hair looking almost like a halo in the oil map light. In that moment Cedrick vowed to himself that he'd spend the next hundred or so years with these people right by his side and never let them go.
