Fight for the Ash Father

Mythology & Lore

According to the Cult of the Ashes, The Ash Father lived in a distant land and time. He was a proud warrior who loved his wife dearly. Unfortunately a close ally proved to be a traitor when he slew The Ash Father's wife and fled. The Ash father swore vengeance against the traitor who he once saw as a close friend. The traitor hid behind a great enemy army.   To enact his vengeance the Ash Father would need an greater army. To accomplish this he created a world of violence and chaos, and filled it with dangerous animals and people. According to the Cult of the Ashes, Ospur is that world. It is intended to test the faithful and give them opportunities to prove their worth to the Ash Father. Honorable warriors join him after death as they train in his mustering hall until the final battle. Dishonorable warriors are forgotten and left to fade to nothing.

Ethics

Honor is paramount to the Ash Father. Honor can be most easily understood as one's utility and usefulness to his fellows. In this way it is equally honorable to be a clever foragers, or a ingenious craftsman as a brutal skullsplitter. Keeping ones vows is crucial. If one's breaks a once vow then one can only be expected to fail when the another vow becomes due.   Kindness is unimportant. Sloppy work with a kind word can cost lives. While tidy work with a harsh word can save lives. Also charity is considered wasted effort. Even a child can, and is expected, to contribute to tasks they are capable of. However the Ash Father is not cruel. The injured or young are merely expected to carry their own weight.

Sects

When it comes to the Cult of the Ashes each sect agrees on the central tenants and their purpose, but disagree on how best to serve that purpose.
