MyAnna Wolf

MyAnna Wolf was a major political figure in the mid 26th century.

Origins

Born in 2510 on Earth to a middle-class family. She attended a top school and then studied Law at Cydonia College, where she graduated with a BA in Law, graduating second in her class. Whilst studying law, she was a part of the Sisters of Ares, a conservative, pro-military student group.

Legal Career

Wolf left law school and immediately became a prosecutor for the Attorney General of Earth, generally dealing with violent crimes. Wolf gained a reputation as a superb prosecutor, with an aggressive questioning style.   She also became increasingly politically active, writing speeches and amicus briefs for the Valiant Party on Earth.

Politician

Wolf was recruited into the Xavier Inkerman campaign for President in 2540 Republic Election, giving legal advice and writing speeches. Senator Inkerman became more and more impressed with her, promoting to her to a senior legal adviser.   After President Inkerman won in 2540, he named MyAnna Wolf to the General Assembly on the Valiant list, placing #119 list. She joined the Valiant Party list, sitting on the Judiciary Committee. She developed a reputation of being tough on judicial appointments.   She was also a vocal ally and supporter of the President, often a vocal spokesperson for the Inkerman administration. She was selected at the 2550 Valiant convention to be President Inkerman's running mate and was elected as Vice President of the Republic in 2550 at the 2550 Republic Election

Vice President of the Republic

MyAnna Wolf was sworn in as Vice President of the Republic by Senator Davis Hanley (SDP). She took over as Presiding officer of the Senate and took part in a lot of committee hearings.   She was also a key figure in the Inkerman cabinet, sometimes leading cabinet meetings. She was generally seen as one of the most influential members of the Inkerman cabinet.   When the constitutional crisis of 2555 came about, Vice President Wolf was often deployed to try and defuse the crisis, talking to various Senators and attempting to find a way to close down the crisis.   She was also a key figure in whipping votes to block the "Fifth Amendment"   After a compromise was brokered by the "Gang of Four", President Inkerman defeated the Fifth Amendment but then resigned his office.   Vice President Wolf was then sworn in as the new President of the Republic.

President of the Republic

MyAnna Wolf was sworn in by December of 2555 as the new President of the Republic. She kept on much of the old Inkerman cabinet, only making a couple of minor changes.   She named longtime legal adviser Dorval Rushkin as her new chief of staff. She selected Governor of the Jovian colonies Eliakim Gould as her Vice President and he was sworn in on December 29 2555.

President Wolf immediately presided over a controversial vote on the Mining Standards Act, which sought to introduce regulations on the mining sector. The bill, which was resisted but passed in the General Assembly, was then vetoed by the President but then overturned in a vote in the Senate.   President Wolf also issued a highly controversial pardon of former Minister of Intelligence Alexander Ashpool for lying to the General Assembly. This proved to be a hugely unpopular move and there were some fringe calls that she should face impeachment for it.   The "Wolf" budget was passed which kept the tax breaks of the Inkerman administration in place. She also successfully saw off the Educational Standards Act, introduced by the SDP.   President Wolf agreed to a major Marine and Intelligence Operation, Operation Lacrosse, to deal with Jericho after they attacked six marine bases. The Republic Marine corps carried out dozens of operations against Jericho, rounding up dozens of militia and killing hundreds.   President Wolf also welcomed the arrival of Whitworth , Avalon Al Ahily and Jasper into the Republic.

Operation Liberator

President Wolf signed off on a "Police action" into Karkouri space to liberate the remaining Terran slaves held there. She was able to get a vote in the Senate to back the action   A Terran force of 100 fighting ships punched through Karkouri lines, encountering stiff resistance near Karkouri worlds. After nine months of fierce fighting, 39,000 marines had been killed and 20 fighting ships lost but 883,000 Terran slaves had been brought home. A non-aggression pact was agreed with the new Karkouri Chancellor General Bakdir and the Karkouri Regime was forced to recognize the newly emerged Ekuneri and Salborian states.

2560 Election

In 2559, most pundits and political insiders believed that MyAnna Wolf would seek Valiant's nomination for President in 2560 and would face only token opposition. However, in January of 2560, President Wolf shocked the political establishment by confirming she would not seek the Valiant nomination for President   She endorsed the party's nominee Senator Dinah Woscek for President but played very little part in the 2560 campaign.   Political pundits believed that President Wolf's decision not to run for President in 2560 was a way to avoid certain defeat in 2560 and perhaps even remain viable for a run at the Presidency in 2570.

Post Presidency

Following the 2560 election, President Wolf fulfilled her role as acting President until the new General Assembly selected its new President.   MyAnna Wolf took up a role as a lecturer at Cydonia College , teaching law and political science. She also took a post on the board of directors at Allied-West.
