Khel Doran is the last surviving Dwarven stronghold in the North, home of the great Dwarven clans Clan Deepmine, Clan Smeltore, Clan Waraxe and Clan Forgeshield. The city is renowed for its mining and manufacturing industries, the vast majority of rare earth minerals in the North being from Dorani mines and its forges producing some of the most fearsome weapons to ever be fielded in the known world. Dwarven mercenaries from the Stronghold are widely considered to be some of the best warriors in the North, often finding themselves contracted to fight on behalf of Holzreich.

The Dwarves of Khel Doran are a proud, martial people. Beyond their cultural affinity for the practice of the ways of war, Khel Doran has produced many a great minstral and historical scholar.Military
Each of the Dwarven Clans fields a retinue of professional Dwarves-At-Arms, usually numbering from 500-3000 Dwarves depending on the Clan. Clan Waraxe boasts the most powerful force in the Stronghold, both numerically and in experience, with many of the warriors of Clan Waraxe being veterans of the First War for the Frontier and Second War for the Frontier.
