Giant's Rest is a location on the western most edge of the Bebaki Heights mountain range, situated on the eastern border of Novaya. It boasts towering peaks dotted with ancient ruins from The Mortal Interregnum.
Geography
Giant's Rest is a wild and untamed land, with towering mountains that stretch into the heavens, often hidden by mist or snowstorms that make the region one of the most formidable places in Novaya. The terrain is treacherous, with sharp cliffs, dense forests, and wide ravines crisscrossing the landscape.
History
The mountains are steeped in ancient legends, the most famous of which is The Duel of Fiannor and Rurik. This legendary battle between an Elven warrior and a Human chieftain is said to have occurred near the ruins of an ancient temple of Harlak, a sacred site believed to hold immense power. The duel, which lasted a full day, became a symbol of both the clash of civilizations and the enduring spirit of the fighters involved.
One of the most prominent groups to call Giant's Rest home is Clan Brynjar, a tribe of Goliaths known for their martial culture, elite warriors, and powerful smiths. Clan Brynjar has a long and storied history, dating back to the founding of their people around 1000 EA. The Goliaths of Clan Brynjar are descendants of the ancient giants who once roamed the mountains, and they have maintained their connection to their heritage through their martial traditions and worship of the deity Baldreng, god of the forge and battle.
