Ordo Templaris
The Ordo Templaris was founded in 10,660 TYA on Tython by the first Council of seven and was at the time known as the guardians of Ashlan and Bogan. The seven founders had come together in a time of great need and turmoil. The Jet’aii was for the first time since the Tho Yor arrival split. Dark and light there was now two factions and the galaxy were going into a dark age.

Publicly the order has kept a low profile throughout the years. For the most part it has been a subtle religion for its members rather than an active order or group. During time of crisis when the order has been active however they have been very open and clear about their objectives. The Order is not for any one part in any given conflict. There are no species, religions or ethnicities they have any strong feelings towards. History tells of winners and losers, of the oppressors and the freedom fighters, but that is not how the order views the world. The purest of Jedi knights may have to be killed and a dark Sith lord saved in the view of the order. People have traditionally had mixed feelings about this, although in general the balance has mostly been challenged by the Dark side wielders and so in history the order has generally been viewed as honorable and trustworthy.

History
Mir, the spearhead behind the order and the one true founding father was the one who brought the other six together. They had all been friends in some capacity for years by then, but they would soon become so much more.
After the conflict within the Jet’aii order and the ever-growing threat of the Rakata Infinite empire, Mir had received somewhat of a revelation. A glimpse of the true force of the universe as he put it. And it was based on this he brought together the seven to form a new order, an order that did not fight for fame or riches, but for the very balance of life itself.
That became the primary belief and value of the order. To protect the balance between Ashland and Bogan, what they believed to be the very essence of life within the galaxy.
The history of the order is spotty, much due to the nature of the values and core beliefs. When a great threat arose, so would the order to combat it however they see fit. But once a threat to the balance was over the order would be dormant. It was one of the unique aspects that made the order different from so many others. In four periods the Order has been active, the four Crusades. Between these the order was dormant. The members laid down their arms and lived normal lives. Teachings and knowledge of the order was passed along from generation to generation, but even so at each new Crusade most of the original knowledge would be lost or slightly distorted. Even for those growing up with the stories they would seem more myth and legend than truth.
Yet three times these myths turned out to be true, when the members of the order, the remnants and descendants were called to another gathering in the great hall in the Citadel. When the Flame and the Architect spoke to them, they were quick to believe once more, and once more the cycle would begin.
The biggest change to the order came in the fourth Crusade, which would seemingly be the last crusade. The members had forgotten the stories, but it was not the Architect who initiated another crusade, during the fourth crusade something else called to arms. The Crusaders were corrupt, and eventually dealt with by the Flame, but not after almost dooming the entire order.
By careful design and planning a fifth Crusade was begun, initially following the broken teachings of the twin kings of the fourth Crusade but eventually saved by the discovery of the seven.
Mythology & Lore
THe Ordo Templaris have always been highly force focused. In the early days all members were force users, however in the later ages more and more non-force users joined the order and it became less important.
