Rafford Bryton
Rafford Bryton was the former High Baron General on the High Council of Phosana, having spent much of his life as part of the military of both The Kingdom and The Independent Merchant Nation of Phosana.
Bryton was born as part of a group of bandits that roamed the Phosanan countryside formed from deserters and soldiers who was displeased with the army. When he was only a small child however this group of bandits was finally caught and rounded up by the Royal Legion, the small boy being sent to an orphanage to be raised by the state.
Bryton had the standard life of an orphan in Kaviri, a rough upbringing that hardened him and threatened to send him into a life of crime, however he remembered who it was that had saved him many years ago and at the age of 16 joined with the Royal Legion.
Bryton excelled in the military, soon rising through the ranks and being made the youngest Captain in the history of the Legion. It would be his squad of soldiers that rescued the young Control after his village was destroyed. Bryton would continue his upward ascent, eventually being named Colonel and placed in charge of his own training garrison. As the years passed Bryton continued to excel in military might, often being sent to put down skirmishes with dwarvern rebels or invaders from The Lasran Marshes.
When The Phosanan Coup happened in 854PS, Bryton was one of the thousands that bent the knee to Wentworth Lytton and the new powers. Having risen to General many years ago, Bryton was selected as the High Baron General, the man in charge of the newly renamed Phosanan Might.
Bryton would go to sit on the council as High Baron General for nearly eighteen years, primarily working to ensure that the treatment of soldiers and veterans stayed strong in the wake of the negative social reforms the council was implementing. Bryton would often be the holdout vote on some of the crueller decisions made by the council, his small attempts to make things better for the civillians, he was still a man of duty however and when the orders came in to crush rebellions and protests he followed through with the talent he was known for.
Bryton would be ousted from the council in 782 PS and replaced by Malice, the Half-Giant brute that would twist and corrupt the Might into his own private thugs. Bryton was sent to Peregot Prison on false charges of treason and corruption, and he would remain there for two years, serving his time as a political prisoner.
He would eventually be freed by The Abnormals on the suggestion of Beren Windminer, who they were also breaking out, due to his ability to potentially rally soldiers against Malice and his thugs. Bryton officially joined The Phosanan Resistance during Aarto Bearfist's war council soon after the breakout.
