Emil Bartholomew Godefroy Aurel Vosaan
Simply going by Aurel, Emil Bartholomew Godefroy Aurel Vosaan is a vampire, alchemist, and priest.
Originally born in 458PS, Aurel Vosaan was the son of a well off potion merchant from Kantia. He had a slightly above standard education and then went into the trades of alchemy alongside his father, establishing the Vosaan and Son Alchemy Company.
When Aurel was around 30, his father passed away, and he decided to travel the world, trying his luck as an adventurer, looking to find new and interesting alchemical ingredients and wonders. It would be during these travels that he found the man that would define his life. Aurel, was on a journey to Reslan, to look for a rare herb that only grew upon the icy mountains there, here he encountered a fellow traveller, a vampire in disguise, Godefroy Tepes who was also in the area looking for rare ingredients for his own alchemy.
Aurel and Godefroy soon developed a relationship, Godefroy revealing to Aurel that he was a vampire, specifically one which did not drink mortal blood, only that of animals. They decided to settle down in Reslan, where they met, marrying and establishing an alchemy business in the capital. However, disaster struck soon into their marriage, as the new King ascended the throne, so did the event that would shape Reslan for the forseeable future. Once the mage purges began, Godefroy and Aurel attempted to leave the city and flee to the border, they were caught and imprisoned, Godefroy not using his intense abilities to free them for fear of further persecution. The pair were beaten badly and thrown onto a slave barge as assumed mages and confirmed alchemists, Aurel nearly dying from this beating. It was for this reason that Godefroy bit him, turning him into a vampire and ensuring that he would heal from his wounds. Their escape however proved difficult, getting caught up in freeing others, fighting guards, and the general distress and disorientation, meant that they were not keeping track of the time, and as the sun began to rise, Godefroy sacrificed himself in order to save Aurel.
Aurel eventually managed to flee the country, traveling at night as mist or animals, heading to and settling down back in his native Kantia. It was here he truly developed his vampiric abilities, creating his own coffin and sanctuary to keep. It would be here he met the second of his namesakes, Having taken on Godefroy's identity in order to stop anybody asking questions where he had been, he took a job as a minor healer in The Church of the Dark Matron, the underground sepulchres they house their temples in being the perfect place to hide his coffin, and giving him an excuse to not go outside, especially considering his new aversion to the sun.
He operated here for many years, keeping to himself and providing alchemical and medicinal aid when needed. He was caught however, sequestering himself one night in his coffin, by one of the priests of the temple, Bartholomew Cullen . Cullen, obviously confused, questioned Aurel and soon discovered his vampiric nature, as Aurel resigned himself to death having revealed himself to this holy man. Cullen though was more intrigued by Aurel, than worried, and the pair spent the rest of the evening discussing the philosophy of death, the morality of vampires, and how they fit into Vasana's notions of the dead, whether they were abominations or simply more evolved.
Bartholomew and Aurel lived in Kantia, serving Vasana for the remainder of Bartholomew's life. Aurel staying hidden, until the time of Bartholomew's death of old age.
Aurel, continuing his tradition of honouring his fallen companions by taking their names, travelled for many years, exploring the many reaches of the globe as he mourned his loss.
He eventually settled in Cypren, Anhalo, wanting to explore the wonders of the shows and the more relaxed way of living. It was here he met Emil Rohellec-Terzieff, a human alchemist who let Aurel into his shop as an apprentice, despite the latter having many centuries more experience. The two developed a romantic relationship and lived and worked together for a few years until one fateful day. Aurel made his way home and discovered Emil being beaten to death by thugs from The Bitter Ring and The Opperice Club. Aurel was driven into a frenzy, nearly breaking his three century long abstention from mortal blood when he was ambushed by numerous other vampires working for the club.
He was drugged and strung up in a Bitter Ring abbatoir, his blood being harvested to produce Rush for Dravin Cazamir . Here he was found by The Abnormals, and once freed he assisted them in securing revenge for both himself and Ruby Wright.
He since continued his travels with the Abnormals, as always taking the past with him, and looking towards the future.
