Waynesburg City Watch

The Waynesburg City Watch is it's police force. They patrol the streets, they attempt to keep the peace, they protect property and and people, they enforce the laws, and so on. They do this in the face of many complications - the various guilds of the city, which also claim the right to enforce their rights, the general lawlessness of much of the city, the factions within government and so on.

Structure

The watch has a vaguely military order. There is a Lord Commander, a high official appointed by the city council. Under him are officers, who are usually given charge of areas: Captain Downes in the Quarter, for example, or Criswell, who is in charge of the investigation group. Under them are other officers, sometimes also called captains, or lieutenants, etc, who do much of the day to day work. Finally, there are sergeants, corporals, constanbles, as well as simple watchmen, the bulk of the force. They use a hodge podge of titles, which may have some official sanction, but usually are just common names for them.

Public Agenda

Their goal is to keep the pace, to enforce the laws, and to protect property and people from harm. They do this on the streets - they work among the public. The city militia (or the guard) work from static bases, usually.
