Zewa

Zewa is the third largest of the Three Brothers Isles in the northwestern Aquatic Kingdoms. Its capital and largest city is Querconós.

Geography

Zewa's rugged hills and mountains are known throughout the Aquatic Kingdoms for their breathtaking beauty. Views of the sky from its peaks are particularly stunning and expansive throughout all four seasons.

Ecosystem

Much of Zewa is part of an alpine biome, with climate and animal life differing by altitude. The low-lying regions around the town of Querconós are an oak savannah, and the town and surrounding area are sometimes called "oak land."

Fauna & Flora

A number of unique eagle species nest in the high mountains of Zewa. The largest of these, the heliopterans or sunwing eagles, are large enough for a human to ride and are said to possess Truesight and incredible intelligence. Some believe these eagles are celestial beings rather than beasts.

History

Zewa is the primary dominion of the god Zeus on the Material Plane. It was raised from the sea after the Litigation of Flames and promised to the people of Zeus in the Dancamortian Charter.
The altitude of much of the island has prevented large cities from growing, but it also offers unparalleled protection for the people of the island. Zewa has not been particularly affected by the wars within the Aquatic Kingdoms over the Age of Complexity. The Rex Aetherum rules from the Fortress of Storms, a heavily fortified and well-guarded mountaintop citadel. The safety and stability of this location allows the Rex Aetherum to amass power easily and keep peace well; thus, of the three members of the Olympian Triumvirate, the holder of the Zewan throne has most often been put in charge. However, the current Rex Aetherum, Creon Sophoclion, has never held the role despite holding power since Y1094.
