Nekrotzar Oakenheart

Death Deliverer Nekrotzar Oakenheart

Nekrotzar Oakenheart is an Aasimar Cleric. He was born in Breughelland into the Order of Sarastro, but has since turned against the Order due to their cruelty and homophobia and sworn to bring about their destruction.   As of 9 April Y1111, he has destroyed the Order and thus prevented the beginning of the Age of Possibility.

Physical Description

General Physical Condition

Nekrotzar - in partial thanks to the boon of his goddess, in partial thanks to his own training - is a muscular, hairless young man that can only be described as a "twunk".

Body Features

His arms are covered in runic tattoos of Abyssal script. He has a scar in the center of his back from his death in December Y1110, at the hands of one of Nick Shadow's Erinyes sent during the Snowfall's Eve Ball.

Facial Features

The most indicative feature on Nekrotzar's face is his askew, broken nose that never healed properly. It was broken by Acona in November 1110 in a 'challenge of might', and much to Nekrotzar's own chagrin, his boyfriend Axel thought it made him more attractive so he never fixed it with magic (despite having the capability to do so).

Identifying Characteristics

Nekrotzar's skin is noticeably luminous, something that began when he sent his father to the Fifth Circle of Hell and he became a Scourge Aasimar.

Special abilities

Nekrotzar is capable of Radiant Soul, an effect that gives him radiant wings that allows him to fly and empower his every strike.

Apparel & Accessories

In his current state, Nekrotzar wears (at minimum) his Robe of Deliverence when out in public. It is a cloak that has adhered to his skin, becoming tattoos down the arms and empowering his abilities.   In casual day-to-day wear, he tends to stick to upscale, designer clothing like Pradelf and Louis Gnuitton in regal, opulent colors - rich purples, reds, golds, and blacks.

Personal history

Nekrotzar Oakenheart (born Astradamors Nuramour) was born on 9th April Y1091 to halfling Agammemnon Nuramour (née Oakenheart) and half-elf Clytamnestra Nuramour in Brueghelland - a settlement within the Dreibach Empire (between Val-Nurem & Brightwater) and was baptized as a member of the Sarastran Order, who worshipped the god Osiris. His parents, both humans, worshipped to such an extreme degree that they were miraculously blessed by Osiris himself. Thus, Astradamors was born an Aasimarーan extremely rare race within the context of the greater world. Astradamors grew up on a strict path to become an acolyte of Osiris for his entire life; he was completely indoctrinated into the Order’s teachings from his birth through his teen years. A conflict raged within himーdespite being supposedly ‘blessed’ as an Aasimar, he’d never experienced the divine power of the god Osiris so lauded by his parents. Upon his eighteenth birthday, the Sarastran Order sent him and his ex-fiancée Mescalina to the Aquatic Kingdoms on his obligatory mission to convert more people to the way of Osiris and his so-called prophet Sarastro.   Roughly a week into his journey, Astradamors experienced a divine revelation in the ragged hotel room the Order agreed to pay for. Before Astradamors’ dejected form appeared a deityーnot Osiris, but the primordial goddess of grief and loss, Achlys. Astradamors was already having a full faith crisis at that point, so he accepted this goddess as his sole being of worship. He abandoned his name so tied with his fundamentalist family in favor of something more in line with his deity: Nekrotzar (no surname). This sudden shift in his religious beliefs caused his powers as a Protector Aasimar to change to a Fallen Aasimar.
Moments after this revelation, Nekrotzar would be found by a halfing wizard. This wizard - Callalilly Oakenheart - would take him in and find him housing in the city as if he were her own brother (which, as fate would have it, he was). For the first time in his young life, he found himself living alone in a strange city that his old community would describe as "metropolitan" and "queer"; he felt more at home living in a tiny studio among the colorful streets of Urbana al-Sona than he ever did within the confines of his old home.   Nekrotzar took up residence in this studio for the remainder of the summer, until being called to a coffee shop by Callalilly for a little get-together. There sat Nekrotzar at a table covered in messy pages, and he would soon be joined by three other souls that he would also call his family: Blanche de la Force, Loge Haderaa, and Tchelio. The owner of this coffee shop had an issue with some pests (giant crabs and mephits) in his basement, and like all good adventuring parties, the Heroes of Cape Hildegard began their adventure as mercenary exterminators.   Upon their next meeting, Nekrotzar and his three new friends were invited to the Urbana al-Sona residence of one Nick Shadow to have dinner. He presented the new party with a contract, and Nekrotzar chose to use a pseudonym out of a deep distrust for this individual - but the rest of the party weren't quite tactful enough to do so.   He would end his residency in the island metropolis soon after their interaction with Nick Shadow. The party headed to the docks, only to watch a wild magic surge at the docks kill several WUAK (Wizarding University of the Aquatic Kingdoms) students. Nekrotzar and company would board the Red Mare - a Fiend's Bane ship captained by a fellow named Daland - and set out towards Isle Machmorraig. Along the way, the party cleared their first fiendish portal at the Caves of Calando, and eventually reached the village of Drakesland Wharf.   Drakesland Wharf was where the Heroes met a great many of their allies that would agree to accompany them on major aspects of their journey. This included Brad Minors and Samuel Stanley (both necromancy majors at WUAK), Zoë Fiensbane (abjuration major at WUAK), Ann Trulove (rogue and daughter of a cleric), Sasha Haderaa (paladin of the Two Daughters), and Talea Woods (a druid-ranger with the singular braincell on the whole island). Here, they got up to miscellaneous hijinks which included the closing of another portal - this one inside the lost artist Avrigardi's Mansion. The party would be forced to leave after stirring up trouble and unrest among the citizens, fleeing on the Messy Bench under the cover of night.
The next stop on Nekrotzar's journey would be the university city of Cape Hildegard, on the northwestern coast of Cypruvalu. He was intent on seeking out the Cave of the Banished Scholars, though much to his chagrin, every individual in town treated him as if he were absolutely insane for suggesting this. It was in Cape Hildegard where he met his partner Axel Hawthorne for the first time at a college bar.   During his stint in Cape Hildegard, Nekrotzar slowly began to uncover mysteries about his own existence and that of his goddess. It was here that he met Gepopo for the first time (under multiple guises), who was attempting to manipulate him into killing his father. Nekrotzar also found out that, in order to open the door to the Caves, he had to assemble seven keys from the deans of Cape Hildegard's academic institutions. Nekrotzar was personally responsible for securing two of the keys (making a trade with Alexei Lenka and fulfilling Tink Tinkerton's desire for tactics), but he aided his party members in Enheduanna's test of morality, the heist of WUAK's library, and being the final party member alive amidst the Snowfall's Eve massacre to collect the final key from Lady Morgana.   In December of Y1111, Nekrotzar came face-to-face with the simulacra of his ex-fiancée Mescalina and her new boyfriend Tom Rakewell at the Snowfall's Eve Ball. As both had developed powers from contracts with Nick Shadow, they summoned a legion of Erinyes to slaughter all of the partygoers. Every member of the Heroes of Cape Hildegard died that evening at the hands of these devils, as did many of Fiendsbane Alola; however, all managed to be resurrected.   Nekrotzar and the other Heroes were resurrected in the mountains of central Cypruvalu, at the hands of Lui and in the presence of the false priestess Acona. The party spent limited time here to recuperate before venturing to the Caves themselves, a dangerous trek amidst the harsh winter. It was here that he realized that Callalilly was his true sister, and that the two were separated because of their birth father's repugnant bigotry.   Within the Cave of the Banished Scholars (a mine that became a hideout for a cult of radical Hildegardians who sought to find knowledge by contacting the Far Realm), Nekrotzar encountered terrifying aberrations of all kinds. With only minimal deaths among the party, they managed to defeat the creatures within (culminating with the face-stealing Stanford Hawthorne, leader of the cult) and sealed the portal to save Cape Hildegard.   Upon their return to the city, they were deigned Heroes (hence the name) and began their ocean journey to Cantonova. Tchelio would remain in Cape Hildegard and retire from adventuring.
When the party had arrived in Cantonova at the end of December, they chose to take some time to breathe instead of press on. During New Year's celebrations at Aunt Lydia's house, Nekrotzar uncovered the true identity of Gepopo for the first time. In these weeks, he also acquainted himself with many of the Wargraves and other facets of the city.   Nekrotzar, after sufficiently mingling with the upper echelons of Cantonovan society, would come to find out that there was a mysterious new mafioso in town - one Don Mackai Wish. He did his best to attempt to figure out his identity - including gathering intelligence at an auction and delegating Fiendsbane Alola to steal the Dread Folio that he had purchased - but the puzzle pieces wouldn't fully come into place until Nekrotzar, Blanche, and Loge were jumped at a spa by some of Wish's lackeys. Nekrotzar Geased one of these individuals and forced him to spill what he knew, and then he solved the anagram: "I am Nick Shadow".   The party received word soon after that Don Wish would be present at a major drag pageant that Loge was competing in - thus, effectively all of Nekrotzar's allies up until that point were present at the event. Don Wish revealed himself as Nick Shadow - or, to be specific, Levistus of the Fifth Hell - in that moment, and he began to massacre the audience.   Levistus was defeated that evening, his soul obliterated upon Loge Haderaa's ultimate sacrifice in conjunction with a final critical blow by Nekrotzar. A short while later, a distrusting dwarf named Pamina Feuerschwer would come into contact with both Nekrotzar and Blanche to aid them in their journey north toward Breughelland.   Nekrotzar, along with many other allies, gave a eulogy at Loge's funeral - one meant for a hero who saved the world.   The Heroes of Cape Hildegard had been reduced to two, and with the addition of Pamina, would become the Battalion of Degenerates (a name lovingly given by the Sarastrans). The Battalion would venture north to the city of Brightwater - a final point of respite on this perilous journey.
As it turns out, Brightwater was no respite for the Battalion. Upon stepping foot onto the shore, they were met by a tsunami threatening to raze the city from existence - the Battalion did all that they could to hold back the water from destroying everything. Nekrotzar - in conjunction with Brad and Samuel - set off in the aftermath to resurrect as many individuals as they possibly could who had died in the incident.   Though Nekrotzar was incredibly stressed about the next Sarastran holy day in February, he did find one thing that was particularly worthwhile and motivating here - the only other ex-Sarastran he knew who had escaped, a woman (and his old Common teacher) named Brigit Waterson.   Mescalina began to regularly infest Nekrotzar's dreams with Dreams of her own - ones of malice, hatred, and bloodshed. He would proceed to return them with Dreams of his own, preventing her from rest and slumber.   Immediately following an engagement party for Blanche and Zoë (where Pamina made a fool of themselves), the group left Brightwater by means of Wind Walk to Nekrotzar's hometown of Breughelland.
The Battalion arrived just as the Tears of Isis ritual was beginning - a marriage between Sarastro and Mescalina, built only on bloodlust and power. Rather than see it go through, Nekrotzar instead slaughtered hundreds of Sarastrans in attendance by rupturing the very earth beneath them. In all, the Battalion were able to kill (for the first time) essentially everyone present except for Sarastro and Go-Go, before they turned their focus to the Temple in an attempt to free the prisoners held within.   They managed to free several people - including Tamino - from the Bowels, but many of them died within the boundaries of the city as they tried to escape into Dreibach. With the exception of Schabernack, the Battalion killed every guard and Apostle within the Temple.   In order to properly prepare for the final showdown on 9 April, Nekrotzar and company returned to the major cities where they had allies: Brightwater, Cantonova, and Cape Hildegard. There, they gathered forces to face Sarastro's in battle.
On 9 April, Y1111, Sarastro gave his Ascension Address to his followers - all of whom lost any semblance of morality and became nothing more than fanatical puppets of the "god". Nekrotzar, Blanche, and Pamina faced him and every single one of his Apostles in battle once more, as they had taken on fiendish and celestial forms in their "rebirth".   Nekrotzar slayed Sarastro on that day, ending any chance at an apocalyptic shift into the Age of Possibility.
Although Nekrotzar hasn't entirely retired from adventuring, he chose instead to take a break for several months after the events of his adventure. With the (frankly ridiculous) riches that he amassed over his time as an adventurer, he purchased a comfortable home along Ozymandius Boulevard in Cape Hildegard's North Cape. He's currently taking his time to do a degree in Art History (with a minor in Linguistics, focusing on Draconic) at Hildegard University. If prompted to in the future by other adventuring parties, he'll help them out with a strategically-placed Dream spell or participate in battle on a separate front from them.   Upon completion of his degree, Nekrotzar aims to further build support for Achlys at Cantonova's Temple of Life and Death and build a large citadel in her name in the Cypruvian Mountains.

Sexuality

Gay, but probably on the gray-ace spectrum to some extent. Will make sexual jokes but is pretty uncomfortable having those labels or jokes put onto him.

Education

Nekrotzar was educated in the limited Breughelland schooling system, which was entirely controlled by the Order of Sarastro. He attended seminary from his earliest cognitive days up until he was sent on a missionary trip with his ex-fiancée Mescalina, where he was indoctrinated into Sarastran culture and belief.   He always had a penchant for learning extremely specific things, however, and utilized learning as a way to cope with either grief or the anxiety of his situation as a gay child in such a place. Thus, he's fluent in eight languages, a skilled ballroom dancer, a relatively talented painter, and understands the inner machinations of the Olympian Dynasty.   As of summer Y1111, Nekrotzar is pursuing a degree in Art History (with a concentration in Lingustics; he's currently undergoing an independent study in developing Draconic fluency) at Hildegard University in Cape Hildegard.

Employment

Nekrotzar is currently one of two leaders (the other being Blanche de la Force) of the incredibly acclaimed fiend-fighting organization known as Fiend's Bane.   He is also signed within the Gladiator's League of Cape Hildegard, where he and his party had achieved the top spot during the Winter 1110 season.

Accomplishments & Achievements

Nekrotzar has a vast list of accomplishments in his tenure with his party.
  • Closed the fiendish portal at the Caves of Calando.
  • Closed the fiendish portal within Avrigardi's Mansion, providing the restless souls within the manor with a final peace.
  • Slayed Dr. John Claggart, a necromancy professor who evidently sought to resurrect the Lich of the Black Keep (or become a lich himself, it was never truly indicated).
  • Won the Gladiator's League of Cape Hildegard.
  • Collected the seven keys from the seven deans of Hildegardian schools as to gain access to the Caves of the Banished Scholars.
  • Slayed Kuralima Milaruk, a corrupted, undead beholder who manipulated the Order of the Banished Scholars into further opening a portal to the Far Realm and Maladomini, the seventh layer of the Nine Hells.
  • Closed the fiendish portal in the Caves of the Banished Scholars, where dozens upon dozens of adventurers had failed.
  • Assisted Fiendsbane Alola in the seizure of an artifact known as the Dread Folio.
  • Slayed Nick Shadow with the assistance of Fiendsbane Original, Fiendsbane Alola, Spymaster Gepopo of Cantonova, and Vanya Robustin.
  • Prevented further casualties in a tsunami that hit Brightwater in February 1111.
  • Helped purify the souls of an Osirian Convent who were corrupted by Sarastran influence.
  • Responsible for the deaths of Jochanaan, Mescalina, Narraboth, and Orestes.
  • Led forces in battle to face Sarastro, who was ultimately slain by Nekrotzar. Thus, the apocalyptic transition into the Age of Possibility was prevented.

Social

Religious Views

Nekrotzar is the favored son of Achlys, primordial goddess of grief and loss. He is responsible for her continued existence in wake of Sarastro, and has since become one of the most powerful clerics within the Age of Complexity.    As a spiritual leader, he hopes to neither evangelize nor indoctrinate, but rather to comfort and accept those seeking solace.

Social Aptitude

Nekrotzar, although soft-spoken, can be incredibly intense and imposing.   In typical social interaction with unfamiliar people, however, he's just a little bit awkward.

Speech

Nekrotzar's voice is pitched on the higher side with vocal fry.
