Aasimar

An aasimar is a Humanoid divinely blessed at either birth or resurrection by the gods.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Aasimar appear largely similar to other humanoids (particularly those with which they share a lineage), but with a few key distinctions. First, they are typically between 6 and 9 inches taller than a non-aasimar of the same lineage might be. Second, they often lack distinct pupils in their eyes. Third, their coloration is more likely to be lighter, more vibrant, or contain more striking accents; all aasimar, regardless of lineage, have the potential to have blue, gold, or purple eyes and silver or golden hair.

Common Myths and Legends

Aasimar are said to have incredible powers not found in any other humanoid. Some can sprout wings from their back, either those of an angel or (less commonly) a demon; others can glow with a terrifying radiant light that destroys all nearby enemies.    An aasimar who acts against the wishes of the deity or celestial that blessed their birth can become fallen. Their physical appearance often changes in some way, and they are more likely to be able to sprout wretched black demonic wings. One touch from such an aasimar can make plants wilt and living beings rot.    Most aasimar who fall remain so for life. However, a few legends tell of aasimar who have become unfallen via their deeds. Some save entire cities, offer themselves in sacrifice to grand causes, and dedicate their entire lives to eradicating great evil. But for some, it's not the scope of their deed... just the intensity. One single, incredible act of righteousness and justice, done for reasons beyond one's own desires, can be enough to restore the aasimar's holiness.
