Chain of Charon
The Chain of Charon is the much-feared guard organization that controls crime in the city of Dancamort. They are recognizable by the scattering of electrum-plated rings that dot their black iron chainmail. The Chain are deputized by the Olympian Throne to beat or kill anyone caught breaking local law, from petty thieves to murderers and resurrectionists.
The crest of the chain is a gold bulette rampant over a red field, surrounded by a gold chain orle. This is emblazoned across their shields and gauntlets, both of which are enchanted to give the chainguards extra protection, interrogation tools, and magic-canceling abilities.
Structure
There are roughly one hundred and twenty to one hundred and eighty active members (called chainguards) employed by the Chain at any given time. Chainguards are organized into six-person units, which are then assigned to one of Dancamort's four precincts: Styx Hollow, Charon Hollow, Crown Hollow, or Deep Hollow. Units take shifts only in their precincts, and report to their precinct captains, who report to the Sergeant of the Chain, Mariposa Bautiste.
