Narcinae Barrityl

The Witch

Narcinae Barrityl was a dark elf warlock and a Marked of Yog. She was a player character in All Hail Yog, portrayed by Emily Rose.
“Layered in frill, ruffle and lace, there is something at once sweet and sinister about this drow debutante. Her costume is a rich mélange of deep purple, blood red and accented gold – a ball gown of exquisite design, sparkling with ornate jewelry and intricate patterns. Her face is crisp and sheer and imperious, with high cheekbones and arch eyebrows. Over her shoulder, she swirls a parasol, one that hums through the air with potent sorcerous power. When the snow-white hair is swept from her eye, an eldritch scar is revealed beneath, burnt like a brand onto the immaculate lavender skin.”

History

Born into privilege in the Unwood, Narcinae was once a scion of House Barrityl. Her brother’s death at a young age forced the adolescent Narcinae to grow up quickly and, from that early age, she was groomed to replace her brother as head of the household. She showed the most aptitude in the arcane and quickly outstripped all her tutors, ravenous in her desire to learn more and more, to acquire more knowledge to better position her family in the cutthroat world of dark elven politics.   Eventually, however, the responsibilities of running and maintaining the household became so great, it interfered with her true desire – more personal power. In order to continue her meteoric rise, Narcinae eventually forsook her family altogether and signed a pact with Yog – surrendering her left eye in exchange for a Mark of Yog. As a member of the Yogothic elite, she is known for her ruthless pursuit of absolute power and the cold revenge she visits upon her enemies.

Character

Personality

Narcinae is driven by one thing – ambition. She sacrificed everything – her House, her family, her right eye to that ambition and was rewarded with a Mark of Yog. For Narcinae, everything is about the accumulation of more power and more status. Along with that status, Narcinae enjoys the finer things in life – culture, music and elegant clothing. Even this, however, is simply a vehicle to prove her worth and her station, a constant reminder that she’s above the common rabble.

Abilities

The pact she made with Yog grants Narcinae a host of eldritch abilities. A dark enchanter, Narcinae is known for her disguises, her charms and occasionally even her demon-summoning. She famously carries a parasol – at once a weapon, a spellcasting focus and even a method of transportation. In addition, she is accompanied by her spectral butler, a tiefling spirit she bound years ago named Jarvis.   Narcinae’s true power, however, lies within her words. She cossets and coaxes and manipulates everyone around her into achieving her own personal ends.

Campaigns

All Hail Yog

  • The Watchtower: Narcinae is one of the four Marked of Yog tasked with conquering the Gatehouse protecting the Bay of Thorp. Whisked away from a midnight masquerade, she made small talk with Ernst before the Vessel’s arrival. During the briefing, Narcinae was puzzled about the inference of a secret weapon in the fortress, one that Yog could not comprehend or countenance. Upon meeting Throka Ten-Tusk in Tzal Umbros, the drow witch quickly ingratiated herself into the orc commander's councils and thus hatched a plan to infiltrate the Gatehouse upon their arrival. Narcinae elects to stay behind while her allies conduct an unsuccessful scouting mission around the island. In the meantime, she concocts an alias – Cymbian Captain Voena – which she deploys when the disguised party rows ashore. When the ruse is immediately penetrated, Narcinae is feathered with several arrows and teleports away, splashing into the water she so despises. Smuggled amongst the zombie horde, she struggles her way to the wall. When she reaches it, she withdraws her parasol of flying, alights onto the parapet and charms the elves and dwarves manning the walls. Thinking quickly, she disguises herself as an elven archer and slipping into their ranks. In her disguise, Narcinae discovers that the Soulsworn are the Gatehouse’s secret weapon. Leading a platoon of elven archers to (accidentally) shoot at Skoura, she bumbled into Zojan, the Soulsworn’s cleric. Then, after an abortive attempt to recover Liamee’s amulet, Narcinae hid inside an outbuilding and summoned a barlgura. The demon went rampaging around the courtyard and, exactly according to plan, drew the Soulsworn from across the battle. In the final showdown, Narcinae badgered Zojan with clouds of daggers and eldritch blasts but was unable to snag the halfling rogue with her lightning lure before she escaped.
