Smilodon Anvilius Species in Anvil | World Anvil

Smilodon Anvilius

Smilodon is more robustly built than any extant cat, with particularly well-developed forelimbs and exceptionally long upper canine teeth. Its jaw has a bigger gape than that of modern cats, and its upper canines are slender and fragile, being adapted for precision killing. The smallest species is at 55 to 100 kg in weight, while the largest subspecies has a weight of 160 to 280 kg and height of 100 cm. Both of these subspecies are mainly known from Golarion, but many have also been seen in Anvil that they tend to be much larger with the largest of them reaching 220 to 436 kg in weight and 120 cm in height, and was among the largest known felids. The coat pattern of Smilodon is similar to a tigers but tends to be heavier and brighter.

The Smilodon hunslarge herbivores such as bison, deer and some megatherium that live in the open planes of the Anvil , and it remains successful even when encountering new prey species across more newly transferred environments.

Smilodon kills its prey by holding it still with its forelimbs and biting it, but it is unclear in what manner the bite itself is delivered since most people that saw a Smilodon kill, do not live to tell the tale. Sages debate whether Smilodon has a social or a solitary lifestyle; Rangers studying the might predator behavior in Golarion lend support to either view.

Smilodon lives in closed habitats such as forests and bush, which would is providing cover for ambushing prey. They tend to hide in caves in high cliffs during the winter.

The protruding incisors are arranged in an arch, and are used to hold the prey still and stabilize it while the canine bite is delivered. The contact surface between the canine crown and the gum is enlarged, which helps stabilize the tooth and helps the cat sense when the tooth had penetrated to its maximum extent.

"Most people who see a Smilodon kill do not live to tell the tale."   YESSSSSSS! Fearsome kitties FTW! I really loved this in general, and loved in particular that I got to read a Dimitris article. I'd say the best thing about you and Janet building out the team is that now we get to see you both play a little bit more and have fun with this awesome thing you built.

Now it's time for the awkward wave.
