Kirinian Emperor
The Emperor or Empress of Kirin is often referred to as the most powerful person on Olquen. They lead the most open and enlightened empire in the world and control vast riches and resources.
History
The founding of the Kirinian Empire by Liakor just over 100 years after the Sundering and a quarter century after her mother, Mendhalia, began unifying the people of Kirinor was the spark that launched the Imperial Age. Liakor became the first Empress of the Kirinian Empire and renamed the portions of the former city of Kirinor that were east of The Rift to Mendhalia in honor of her mother. The empress ruled over lands that were still in transition and being unified following a century of upheaval.
Cultural Significance
Historically the Emperor has been the head of the Kirinian Empire and an honorary member of the Council of Hierarchs for the Church of Kirin in deference to the belief that the Emperor's mandate comes from Kirin herself. In reality, the Church plays a powerful role in the politics of the empire and the Emperor and the Archpriest have not always seen eye to eye..
