Olquen

A world still finding its place in the multiverse, Olquen is a place of natural beauty marred only by The Rift that trisects Ankaluun, the central land mass of the world. The Rift is a massive chasm that spans the continent and stretches to over 100 miles wide and plunges to unknown depths.   Prosaic as Olquen may seem, magical traditions such as mystical tattoos are found on even the humblest of peoples which ensures that the arcane is an ever-present fact of life for its inhabitants.   Throughout world history, two empires, each occupying a segment of Ankaluun divided by the Rift, have fought wars for supremacy separated by periods of uneasy peace. The remaining land mass in the north is occupied by a loose cooperative of independent city states who generally seek to stay out of the larger conflicts in an attempt to thrive through neutrality and their proverbial mercantile savvy.   Thousands of years after The Sundering, the planet remains geologically active. Periodically, new land masses rise from the seas or sink into oblivion. Archipelagoes, such as Tel to the east of Ankaluun, are far from the imperial wars but are no stranger to the dangers of natural and supernatural threats on their islands and across the seas.
