Kaultedtian Wars

The Kaultedtian Wars was a large-scale period of widespread conflict that took place from 24981 to 24977 AYM. It occurred within the tribe of Kaultedt, who inhabited the majority of the Tayzem Region apart from Lotao in the northwest. This conflict caused enormous amounts of suffering for local Ibrovinids, killing over 5,000 Kaultedtians and displacing over 19,000. For this reason, the Kaultedtian Wars are often referred to as the first of a special set of conflicts categorized as 'deadly', or Guhoifuab in Illibrivroni.
The Kaultedtian Wars' main cause was disagreement and dissent over the divisions inside the tribe, which corresponded with and were sorted by the subsections within the Kaultedt Family, whose population was almost entirely contained inside Kaultedt. At the start of the conflict, there were 32 subtribes within Kaultedt. When it ended only 4 remained; Oragona, Sellmoor, Zolaus, and Pinoth.

Prelude

In 12 Anta-Eimarae, 24982 AYM, Taisat, the head of the family, died, and following his death, the tribe splintered into 32 subtribes. Those who opposed Taisat and the current monarchal system in general formed groups of the Artalor, who advocated for anarchy. Those who liked the current system were part of the Ardunir, and advocated for Taisat's son, Eskhirom, to succeed him. The rest, who were caught between the fighting, became the Arkheotor, and resisted the influence of both groups. This is known as the Crisis of 24982 AYM, and the resulting chaos caused Zumiza, the Hyvamto-Re-Elironid, or leader, of Elironid, to force them out on 15 Geta-Eimarae. Before they left, they signed the Ymolat Pact in the small town of Ymolat, ensuring mutual safety between the groups as the drifted across the Erithorn Ocean.
The Kaultedt family landed on the eastern coast of the Tayzem Region in the month of Heta-Eimarae, 24981 AYM (the exact date is not known), via around 14 boats, each carrying anywhere from 250 to 350 passengers. As the oldest in the tribe, Eskhirom became the first leader of Kaultedt, and he worked with a council called the Heta-Kaultedt, consisting of surveyors and members representing each of the subsections of the tribe. Together, they created the boundaries for each of the 32 subsections and finalized them in 3 Nota-Eimarae, and placed a tiny area in the middle of the region for Eskhirom and the Council, who would serve as the first government of Kaultedt. Many of these tribes were strategically placed to avoid conflict and deter any potential violence. However, those along the coast fared extremely well, while those farther away were battered by the harsh climate and the scarcity of the Tayzian deserts, leading to tribal feuds and skirmishes along borders. This escalated to a full blown war in 14 Suta-Eimarae, 24981 AYM.

Kheosir-Ipiasir War

The dispute between Kheosir and Ipiasir is generally referred to as the Kheosir-Ipiasir War or, more broadly, the First Kaultedtian War. At the time of the Kheosir-Ipiasir War, Kheosir did not have a leader of any sort, while Ipiasir was led by sparsely dotted warlords that often competed with one another. The most prominent of these warlords were Cauphat, Turillor, and Suvend.
Ipiasian Raids
The conflict between Kheosir and Ipiasir began with the raiding of small Kheosian towns near the border; however, because the majority of the Kheosian population was situated at the coast, these raids had ittle to no effect on the two countries' relations. The raids took place from 6 Nota-Eimarae to 24 Anta-Eimarae, 24981 AYM, and were most likely carried out by Cauphat.
Battle at Chresit Cliffs
The Battle at Chresit Cliffs, taking place in 26 Anta-Eimarae at the city of Chresit in Kheosir, was the first major battle of the Kheosir-Ipiasir War. Chresit was situated on the ledge of a giant cliff overlooking the coast. It was located just 25 kilometers from the nearby coastal city and port of Itomes, and as such volunteers from Chresit, Itomes, and many other cities banded together and met the Ipiasians just outside the city limits. However, only 450 volunteers appeared, and they were decimated by the 2,250 strong Ipiasian army. As the survivors fled the scene, the warlords gave chase, back through Chresit and down a series of Cliffside paths down to Itomes. However when the Ipiasians gave chase, the sheer force and weight caused the cliff to crumble, bringing down with it about 1/3 of the Ipiasians and the entirety of the city of Chresit. This also destroyed the Cliffside paths, meaning that the Kheosians were now stranded at the coast. They lost around 300 men, while the Ipiasians lost 765 men. After the battle, the Ipiasians returned back to Ipiasir and claimed the area up to the cliffs as part of their territory.
Creation of the Kheosirtu
The Kheosirtu, which means the leader of the Kheosir in Eldrond, was created in 27 Anta-Eimarae in response to the Battle of Chresit Cliffs. The power of the Kheosirtu was never really elaborated on during the history of the Kheosir. The first Kheosirtu was Rauhler, the unofficial leader of the volunteer army. Through his actions as the Kheosirtu, the role transformed into that of a strategist.
Ambush at Asenthol and Pact of Imotes
Asenthol was a border town previously destroyed by the Ipiasians during their raids. In 4 Ulta-Eimarae, Rauhler led an expedition alongside around 45 volunteers up the cliffs and to the destroyed towns. While they were there, a small force of Ipiasians ambushed them, alerting the main army of Ipiasir. The volunteers fled back to Itomes, and Rauhler sent messengers to the nearby tribes of Belhubyr and Iristyir asking for help. Temest, the king of Belhubyr, or the Belhubyrtu, came to Imotes with a 2,000 strong army, while Iristyir's king sent over a 1275 strong force. With this, the 3 tribes signed the Pact of Imotes in 6 Ulta-Eimarae, which ensured the combined protection against any threat faced by either of its members. It also ensured the free and welcomed travel of troops between the three countries; however, the country they were in would have total responsibility over their protection.
Battle of Caurriss
Caurriss was a town just southeast of Imotes. Angered by the trespassing of the exploratory group on Ipiasian territory, the warlord Suvend marched with a 5000 strong army with the intent of fully invading and controlling Kheosir. His route was to go southward of the cliffs, through Iristyir, before swerving back up and hitting the coastal towns that way. The northern part of Iristyir they walked through was filled with heavy desert, and as such the Iristyir and the Kheosir were never informed of their arrival. Suvend's troops arrived at Caurriss in 12 Ulta-Eimarae, much to the surprise of its residents. Coincidentally, Rauhler and his army were staying just opposite Suvend's forces, north of Caurriss. Upon hearing the news, Temest and the allied forces went out to meet them, while Rauhler focused on evacuating the civilians from the conflict. However, Suvend saw this and ordered a charge through the middle of the allied line, flooding through the now-empty city. Temest ordered a hasty retreat, but around 32% of the army was killed by the now routing Ipiasians. Temest himself was killed in the commotion. Having lost only 108 men, Suvend continued onwards to Imotes, where the vast majority of Kheosians were located.
Battle of Imotes
In 15 Ulta-Eimarae, Belhubyr fell into chaos as a reaction to the death of Temest during the Battle of Caurriss. As per the Pact of Imotes, the troops of both Belhubyr and Iristyir were fully under Rauhler's protection and as such, Rauhler's absence at the front lines of Caurriss depicted him as a traitor. Temest's heir, Gintor, rallied the rest of the Belhubyrian army and went after Rauhler, crossing the border at 17 Ulta-Eimarae. At the same time, Suvend's army was approaching Imotes from the south. Rauhler and the rest of Kheosir were still in Imotes, and as a last resort he and the civilians of Imotes sailed into the ocean, drifting for around 5-6 days before landing at Iristyir. Meanwhile, Suvend's and Gintor's armies clashed at the now-deserted Imotes, and each side automatically assumed the other was Rauhler's forces. After some heavy fighting, Suvend was pushed back and forced to retreat. Suvend lost some 2,300 men while Gintor had 1200 casualties. Gintor and his army only realized the true nature of their enemy when they searched through the bodies afterwards.
Battle of Iristyir Desert
However, just as he was going back across the border to Iristyir, they were met with a large force of around 3200 men, commanded by Rauhler himself. After landing at Iristyir and meeting with officials, they figured out that Suvend had used the desert path and, because of Gintor's significantly large army, reasoned that he would be traveling back through the desert. On 24 Ulta-Eimarae the two sides clashed, and with their spirits weakened by the earlier Battle of Imotes, Suvend and his army were all killed.
Treaty of Kollor
The Treaty of Kollor was signed on 30 Ulta-Eimarae by Rauhler, representing both Kheosir and Iristyir, and by the warlord Turillor, representing Ipiasir. In this treaty the two sides agreed to cease fighting; Kheosir was greatly ravaged by the war and Ipiasir's warlords were busy fighting another conflict. The land borders were to be how they were at that time, with Ipiasir's territory extending all the way to the cliff edges. From then on, the Kheosir-Ipiasir war was primarily fought between the combined forces of Kheosir and Ipiasir and Belhubyr, who had taken over the Kheosian territory.
Kheosian Campaign
The Kheosian Campaign was a military campaign that sought to take back Kheosir from Belhubyr. Rauhler led a small army of volunteers numbering around 1,500 from the Kheosian refugees and, with an additional force of 2,500 lent from the Iristyir, marched into Belhubyrian territory on 2 Suta-Eimarae, setting up camp in Caurriss and sending scouts further north, revealing to them a small patrol of around 400 men in Sulorrod and Enturim, and a large patrol group of around 1500 men in Imotes.
The Kheosians decided to send half of their forces, led by Rauhler's friend Inganer, back to Iristyir and along the cliff edge, briefly entering Ipiasian territory before stopping just southeast of the Belhubyrian border. There they dug into the cliff from the top, creating a rockslide and a path downwards. This, however, attracted the attention of a Belhubyrian patrol group in Enturim as well as a small army group in Ipiasir, and Inganer was forced to hide. When the Belhubyrians and Ipiasians left the scene and headed back, Inganer and his army then descended down upon the cliff face and, after nightfall, they snuck into position north of Sulorrod.
The following morning, Rauhler led his army to Imotes and engaged in a battle with them. The patrol groups in Enturim and Sulorrod were sent to Imotes as backup. However, just as the Sulorrodian patrol group was leaving, Inganer's army sprung upon them, quickly killing them and then heading towards Enturim. Meanwhile, Rauhler engaged the Imotes army with half of his army, feigning a lack of numbers. When Inganer had finished killing off the Enturian patrol, he went south towards Imotes. Rauhler immediately sent his reserve half of his army into the western entrance of the city, and with their army pushing in from the north, west, and south, they cornered and slaughtered the Belhubyrians against the eastern cliff face. From there, they concentrated their forces at Sulorrod, anticipating an attack from Gintor. However, unbeknownst to them, Belhubyr was in another war with Ipiasir and as a result, nothing happened at the border. For the rest of the Kaultedtian Wars, nothing more went on, and so this is generally referred to as the official end to the Kheosir-Ipiasir War. Kheosir and Iristyir split up formally in 3 Wota-Eimarae, and by that time, all of Kheosir's cities were rebuilt and the tribe was back to its former self, albeit without the land on the cliffs.

Belhubyrian-Ipiasian War

The Belhubyrian-Ipiasian War started at 27 Ulta-Eimarae, 24981 AYM, and was between Belhubyrian and Ipiasir. This was caused by the earlier Pact of Imotes, which pitted Iristyir and Belhubyr against Ipiasir. When Kheosir was conquered, the Ipiasians then turned to Belhubyr, since it was the larger and more powerful of the two. Later in the fight, Iristyir and Kheosir would also mount attacks against Belhubyr.
After the Fall of Imotes
The battle of Imotes and its subsequent capture by Belhubyrian forces marked the end of what is known as the First Kheosian country. Following this, the Ipiasians focused their armies towards Belhubyr, because they were the most powerful and also because they saw them retaking Kheosian territory after the battle, implying that a conquer of Kheosir by itself without Belhubyr would do nothing. The territory occupied by Ipiasir was shorter than that of Belhubyr, meaning that an invasion straight west would cause the majority of the population to flee northward to Sialver or Thizor. So, in 20 Ulta-Eimarae, the warlord Cauphat sent his friend Eraldor to Sialver and Thizor to convince them to help invade and conquer Belhubyr. However, they were busy constructing an artificial river into the desert, and the border to Belhubyr was too far away from the site. After Eraldor came back, Cauphat decided to go into Sialver and Thizor territory with half his troops and left the other half, led by his second-in-command Saivia, along the western border. He trusted that since they were working on this river, the rest of their territory would be relatively barren and uninhabited, allowing them to travel undisturbed.
Limoriv Massacre
In 27 Ulta-Eimarae, the Ipiasians began their invasion. Cauphat's troops poured in northward, while Saivia's troops, following the orders of Cauphat, went westward before swooping north, meeting Cauphat's troops at the port city of Limoriv. The people inside were massacred, and those encircled by the giant circling movement of the two armies fled eastward into Ipiasian and Sialvian territory. It was planned that the army of the warlord Aulitur, the second-in-command of Suvend, would be there to pick off those Belhubyrians. However, they were crippled by an internal split, leaving the border wide open., and thousands of refugees flooded into Ipiasian territory. However, since the territory they encircled was mostly desert, the percentage of Belhubyrians that were encircled barely made a dent in the overall population.
Southward March and Battle at Orm-Delar
From 30 Ulta-Eimarae to 5 Suta-Eimarae, the army, now rejoined under Cauphat, led a long and devastating campaign as he went southward towards the Belhubyrian capital of Elterenit. King Gintor and his army of around 7,000 went to meet them in the desert, in a place now known as Orm-Delar, where the two sides engaged in vicious close combat. It is said that the fighting was so chaotic and uproarious that the commotion itself caused the Kheosians, who had reconquered their territory back from the Belhubyrians in 3 Suta-Eimarae, to join the fight against the Belhubyrians. However, it has been confirmed via battle records that the Kheosians led their army into Belhubyrian territory in 4 Suta-Eimarae out of sheer curiosity and surprise at the lack of troops at the border.
The result of the Battle of Orm-Delar were inconclusive, and both sides, being significantly battered, agreed to a truce on the evening of the 5 Suta-Eimarae. However, at that time, by sheer coincidence, the Kheosian army had just reached Orm-Delar, and the startled Belhubyrians, seeing the smaller Kheosian army, opted to fight their way out of Orm-Delar, southwards towards Elterenit. So, they charged towards Rauhler's army, resulting in another bout of combat. The Ipiasians also began charging at the Belhubyrians, and with their forces stalled by Rauhler, Gintor ordered his men to rout around the Kheosian army, resulting in a chaotic stampede that caused many casualties. This action caused the Ipiasian army to stop charging, which caused another stampede among them. The Kheosians gave chase as the Belhubyrians fled to Elterenit, and stopped north of the city borders. After this battle, both Kheosir and Ipiasir, both of whom had suffered substantial amounts of casualties, returned back to their respective tribal lands. This was partially due to arguments and a growing sense of distrust between the two tribes.
Assassination of Gintor and the Tetrarchy of Belhubyr
Because of the excessively low morale of the Belhubyrian army, they began to question Gintor's authority, and in 7 Suta-Eimarae Gintor was assassinated by Ildator and Thimat, two of Gintor's generals. Together, along with Ruhovio and Ilekril, they formed the Belhubyrian Tetrarchy. The army was split between the four commanders, who would work among themselves to attempt to fight their way to a peace agreement.
The Tetrachy decided to send small scouts to survey the land around Elterenit, and many settled in nearby towns and set up camp there, tightening the relationship between Elterenit and the rest of Belhubyr. These scouts had all set up secondary bases in Vaitim, Ronnir, and Cruicin, and by 12 Suta-Eimarae, a messaging network had formed between them. In 15 Suta-Eimarae, 3 of the four generals moved their armies to the three cities; Ilekril went to Vaitim, which was located northeast of Elterenit, Thimat went to Ronnir, a coastal town to the west, and Ildator went to Cruicin, the southernmost city of Belhubyr.
Death of Ilekril
In 20 Suta-Eimarae, Ilekril and his army went northward as part of an alleged scouting exercise, where they were ambushed by a small force of Ipiasians. During the chaos, Ilekril was severely wounded and eventually died on the 24th. The rest of the army fled back to Vaitim, and Ilekril's son Furalos took temporary control of the army before Ruhovio arrived from Elterenit and incorporated the army into his own. Ilekril's death, even if it was intentional, catalyzed the reemergence of conflict between Belhubyr and Ipiasir.
Cauphat was alerted to this and led his army to Vaitim, where they came into contact with Ruhovio's army. Ruhovio himself was at the front lines, and in the fighting he was separated and eventually captured and brought back to Ipiasir. Furalos reassumed control from then on, and he began planning a grand campaign to conquer Ipiasir.
Furalotian Campaign
The Furalotian Campaign was a large scale invasion of Ipiasir by Belhubyr named after Furalos, the self-appointed leader of the Belhubyrian army. It took place from 1 to 6 Geta-Eimarae, 24981 AYM, and began with their entry into Ipiasian territory from the northwest. From then on, his army conducted ruthless raids on towns and settlements, and Cauphat's army was frequently routed by Furalos. His strategy consisted of a rampant gouging of food before the operation, relaying on the energy provided by it to propel them throughout Ipiasir. Within 5 days they had swarmed their way throughout the tribe, rescued Ruhovio, and killed approximately 250 Ipiasians. Their uncanny demeanor and reckless movements startled the Ipiasians into surrendering via the Treaty of Truimaw in 6 Geta-Eimarae. From there, Ipiasir was formally incorporated into Belhubyrian territory, becoming the first tribe to be conquered. This marked the definitive end of the Belhubyrian-Ipiasian War.

Fracture of Belhubyr

The Fracture of Belhubyr occurred on 2 Heta-Eimarae, 24980 AYM, and split Belhubyr into 2 separate tribes. The dividing line was a north-south border just 142 kilometers from the original border between Belhubyr and Ipiasir; on the west was the territory claimed by Thimat and Ildator, and on the east was the territory claimed by Furalos and Ruhovio. This western territory was called Vau-Belhubyr (Belhubyr Proper in Eldrond) and the eastern was called Ka-Ipiasir (New Ipiasir in Eldrond). This breakup was created due to disagreements between the tetrarchy (now a Dual Monarchy with the removal of Ruhovio and Ilekril) and Furalos. Furalos saw the government as being incredibly weak and disorderly, and sought to create one of his own to better fit the needs of his army. Following this fracture, the Ipiasians refused to serve Furalos, and created their own independent government in 15 Heta-Eimarae, 24980 AYM. These two governments feuded endlessly until 3 Yota-Eimarae, 24979 AYM, when the Ipiasian government launched a counterattack in response to a failed attack by Furalos. During the counterattack, Furalos and his remaining followers were killed, solidifying Ipiasian control over Ka-Ipiasir.

Mounor War

The Mounor War was one of the largest wars in the Kaultedtian Wars. Unlike the previous conflicts, this was the first to be largely based on the rift between the Ardunir and the Artalor; Mounor and Rilvespir fought against Aledemor, Brinar, Esslyeber and Irvesper, and Iskelcer played supporting roles in the conflict. This war was by far the single most influential, reshaping the boundaries in the Northeast and uniting the majority of the tribes there under the tribe of Oragona. It lasted from 3 Geta-Eimarae, 24981 AYM to 16 Nota-Eimarae, 24979 AYM.
Zantuo-Iltu Skirmish
The relationships between the different tribal groups in the Northeast region of Kaultedt were fractured a mere 4 weeks after the official settling. However, the situation remained in a tense limbo, with all of the tribes there needing time to settle into their new environment. When Furalos, who had affiliated himself with the Artalor despite being part of the Arkheotian Belhubyr tribe, invaded and conquered Ipiasir using the military tactic Vuolunot, the widely negative response to this caused the rift between the Ardunir and Artalor to deepen. In 3 Geta-Eimarae, 24981 AYM, this came to a climax in the two towns of Zantuo and Iltu, located close to each other on the border between Mounor and Aledemor. After about 25 minutes of flighting between the two towns, Irvesper sent a small group of volunteers to the towns, where together they killed the population of Zantuo, numbering around 200, and secured the city within a day.
Mobilization of Mounor and the Ruldem Invasion
Following the Zantuo-Iltu Skirmish, the tribe of Mounor began creating a volunteer army, made up mostly of miners. Because Mounor was Ardunian, and therefore did not believe in a government, "directors" were established, who would, in times of need, shepherd the troops to the designated place of conflict. Over 3,500 troops made up Mounor's army at this time. However, the mobilization only generally affected those of the towns in the center of the region, and those in the outskirts were not notified.
Meanwhile, inspired by the activity in Aledemor, the tribe of Umakher also launched an attack in 8 Geta-Eimarae, 24981 AYM, on the eastern border between them and Mounor. Their 3,000 strong army was met in the town of Ruldem, a border town with a population of around 500. Receiving word of the attack, the Mounian army moved towards Ruldem, and immediately began to fight. However, because of the chaos and confusion, they ended up killing many of their own troops alongside the Umakhians, and when the dust settled, 1,500 Mounians were dead compared to 1,300 of the Umakhian army, who promptly retreated back into Umakher. The native population of Ruldem was also completely wiped out.
Rilvesper's Entry and Conquer of Umakher
Following Umakher's attack, Rilvesper, an Artalor and therefore an ally of Mounor, began an assault on 11 Geta-Eimarae, 24981 AYM, on the nouth-south border between them and Umakher. Mounor also sent its army later that same day to attack from the west. This attack lasted until the 13th, and sliced Umakher in two, isolating a small sliver of their territory. The town of Iltevset was located in this tiny sliver, and was separated from the rest of Umakher.
A diagram of the early stages of the Battle of Iltevset. The blue lines are Mounor and Rilvesper's attacks. The yellow is Umakher's two territories.
Aledemor, upon hearing word of the attack, used the territory they had won in the Skirmish of Zantuo-Iltu and sent a 3,000-strong army led by Tunortu, the cousin of Meuloph, the king of Aledemor, between the borders of Mounor and Rilvesper and into the city of Iltevset, reinforcing it for the upcoming battle. Meanwhile, the combined forces of Mounor and Rilvesper moved southeast to take the rest of Umakher, and a small Rilvespian force, numbering just under 100, went back to the small northwestern slice of Umakhian territory to conquer it before meeting up with the rest of the army. Tunortu anticipated that the entire army would come for them, and had positioned his troops inside the houses and buildings, ready to spring up an ambush. When the Rilvespian force got to the city, Tunortu and his men quickly killed them. Knowing now that the rest of the army had most likely conquered Umakher by now, Tunortu messaged to Meuloph for reinforcements, and the latter sent over another 3,000, led by Tunortu's friend Hauseld, and readied an additional force of 5,000 to be led by the king himself. Together, they waited until 20 Geta-Eimarae, 24981 AYM, when the combined Mounian-Rilvespian army, puzzled over the disappearance of their earlier force, had arrived en masse, numbering around 8,000, from their recent conquests in Umakher.
Battle of Iltevset
The Battle of Iltevset occurred on 20 Geta-Eimarae, 24981 AYM, and was between the combined Aledemian forces of Hauseld and Tunortu, concentrated inside the city of Iltevset, and the Mounian and Rilvespian forces emerging from the south. However, instead of immediately marching from the southeastern end of the recently-conquered Umakher, the Mounians and Rilvespians decided to spread out their forces from Umakher to Mounor, forming a large line of troops. With this line they charged into Iltevset, hoping to drive the Aledemians back into Rilvespian territory, where they would be completely slaughtered.
However, upon enacting this plan, the left wing of the army experienced structural difficulties and lagged behind the rest. Therefore, the majority of the Aledemians were able to escape by fleeing west and back to Aledemor, and the little sliver of Umakhian land was incorporated into Mounor. Despite this, Meuloph was adamant on preserving Iltevset, and began plans to conquer Rilvesper and Mounor.
Pact of Arimund and Battle of Muntolar
The Pact of Arimund was signed on 22 Geta-Eimarae between Meuloph, the king of Aledemor, and Butusk, the king of Irvesper. This pact joined Aledemor and Irvesper under the dual monarchy of Meuloph and Butusk, and combined their armies into a single massive 11,000 strong unit. Following this merge, these two tribes were jointly referred to as Nostavor. Since both tribes were Ardunir and thus held the same values, one king would be able to ride into battle in times of war and leave the other one in charge of running the tribe, and vice versa.
Because Meuloph had formulated their battle plan, he elected to use the army to carry out the mission, and marched into Rilvesper from the west on 24 Geta-Eimarae. They encountered the Rilvespians and Mounians involved in the botched Battle of Iltevset just west of Muntolar, a major city of Rilvesper. At this point they were still stretched out into a line from the earlier Battle, and after Meuloph attacked the westmost point of their army, most retreated into the city, with around 40 dying in the early skirmish. After readying themselves, the Mounian and Rilvespians engaged Meuloph just outside Muntolar. The city was designed much like Elironid itself, with streets radiating out from a central point. Thus, the Mounian and Rilvespian troops had to funnel out through only a few narrow paths before regrouping. Meuloph, in response, dividing his armies into groups and positioned them right outside the city walls, catching many of the unprepared troops and forcing the rest to hastily retreat through the city and escape east. After the Battle of Muntolar, the army was reduced to around 5,000, most of whom were scattered across the region east of the city. About 2,000 were able to escape through Umakher, but the rest settled in minor towns like Delmaro, Avint, and Ubasor. Meuloph claimed the land west of Muntolar for Nostavor, and the city was also looted and given to Nostavian hands.
First Battle of Iltu
The First Battle of Iltu took place on 25 Geta-Eimarae, and was a failed counterattack by the Mounians. After hearing of Meuloph's actions, the Mounians decided to take advantage of his absence by invading Nostavor from the south. They decided to converge on the town of Iltu, which was taken from them during the early skirmishes there. However, Butusk anticipated this beforehand, and sent a reserve force of 2,000 led by Uskendo to Iltu knowing the history behind the place. The Mounians, numbering around 5,500, met around 500 of Uskendo's troops in the middle of Iltu. However, Uskendo anticipated this, and positioned the majority of his army outside the town. When the Mounians went to attack, Uskendo's hidden forces swept in from behind and ambushed them, leading to around 3,000 Mounian casualties compared to 50 on Uskendo's side. The rest of the Mounians retreated back into their territory.
Mounian Revolution
The Mounian Revolution was a largely peaceful change of government from anarchy to a military monarchy. Frustrated by their losses, the people blamed the defeats on their lack of cohesion and organization, and wished for a leader to improve on these dilemmas. Word of this need soon spread to Joulath, a Rilvespian in the town of Ubasor, one of the minor towns on what was left of Rilvesper. At once he returned back to Mounor and quickly gained popularity among the public, since most of the wartorn veterans were dead or gravely wounded from their recent losses. In 27 Geta-Eimarae, he was given command of the entire army of Mounor as the first Mounorzirtu, or Leader of the Army of Mounor. From then till 3 Wota-Eimarae, Joulath organized the army and installed
Battle of Avint
The battle of Avint occurred on 2 Wota-Eimarae, 24981 AYM, and was an attempt to subjugate the Rilvespirot-Callauz under Nostavian rule. This was originally a mission conducted by Tunortu, a high-ranking official within the Nostavian ranks, while Mueloph moved his army back to the Nostavian mainland upon hearing news of the Battle of Iltu. Tunortu was given about 2,500 men to carry out this mission.
The Rilvespirot-Callauz, literally called the Eastern Cities of Rilvespir, consisted of some 20 minor towns, all with populations under 2,000. The most populous were Avint and Ubasor. Most of the cities, with only about 500 to 1000 each ready to fight, quickly surrendered to Tunortu, but Avint and Ubasor both rebelled, leading Tunortu to lead his army there in 1 Wota-Eimarae. However, these two towns were the farthest east of the 20 towns, as the army reached the two cities they passed by about 5 other towns. Motivated by Avint and Ubasor, the inhabitants of the other towns opted to secretly move to the 5 towns nearest to Tunortu's army to conduct an ambush.
The armies of Avint and Ubasor met the Nostavians about 300 meters from the city edges, so that Tunortu's army would entirely be contained within the space between the cities, allowing for a potential flank. About 10 minutes after the two sides first engaged, the armies of the other towns rushed out of their hiding places and encircled the Nostavians.
Tunortu immediately directed his forces to charge towards Avint, as it was the largest of the two towns and thusly they could inflict the most damage before being slain. In response to this the armies guarding Avint and Ubasor transferred entirely to Avint, while the flanking armies surrounded Tunortu on all sides, and as a result, the Nostavians were trapped completely outside of Avint. Despite numerous attempts to break through the lines, Tunortu and his men were ultimately slain, and only about 250 survived, which were promptly taken prisoner to Ubasor.
The victory at Avint gave the inhabitants of the Rilvespirot-Callauz a drastically increased sense of unity, and, like Mounor, they chose among themselves a leader, Leriabar, who initially gained popularity for his actions at Avint.
Crisis of Nostavia
The Nostavian Revolution was a period of crisis in Nostavor centered around Tunortu and the Battle of Avint. Tunortu was a widely respected and admirable figure in Nostavia and his death prompted many to seek revenge. However, Meuloph, who had just returned from the Rilvespirot-Callauz to anticipate a follow-up attack from Mounor, was seen as a traitor for supposedly leaving Tunortu to die. As public perception of Meuloph worsened, Butusk was forced to use the army to capture and kill Meuloph in 4 Wota-Eimarae. Butusk then devised a plan to use Meuloph's successor, Hauseld, to avenge Tunortu, and sent him out, alongside 5,000 troops, on the 5th.
Battle of Ubasor
The various battles fought in the Rilvespirot-Callauz by Hauseld are colloquially called the Battle of Ubasor. In total, about 20 individual battles are included under this label.
First, Hauseld sought to attack Silor and Culamott, the two towns closest to Avint and Ubasor, as these were the places from which the Rilvespians flanked the Nostavians. They approached Silor, the northern of the two, and were met with fierce resistance. Much of troops from the other towns, including around 65% of the troops stationed in Avint, also coalesced in Silor once the battle started. In total, the Rilvespian army facing Hauseld reached 4,000. Instead of facing them directly, Hauseld instead opted to draw the Rilvespians from the city, and after that the Nostavians charged around their adversary and attacked the now-defenseless towns. To do this, Hauseld divided his army into two; one would rush north of the Rilvespians towards the northern towns of Itwarina and Isserrak, and the other would target Culamott and the towns south of that. Hauseld himself would join the group going south, while his second-in-command Inairke led the northern half.
Leriabar, who was in control of the armies at Silor, knew that Hauseld's two halves were each smaller and therefore weaker than his undivided army, but he was conflicted by which half to go after. In a split second decision, he sent his whole army after the southern half. When the two met at Culamott, Hauseld's outnumbered men fled southward through the southern towns, ransacking cities as they went. Leriabar then sent a squad of reinforcements from Avint and Ubasor after them, while his army would target the northern half of Hauseld's army, who was in Isserrak. After a series of battles, Leriabar then cornered Inairke in Itwarina, while the reinforcements also trapped Hauseld in the southernmost of the cities, called Nydenon. In sending these reinforcements, however, Leriabar used up the vast majority of the troops in the two cities, leaving them defenseless.
Inairke's forces, who were trapped in a storehouse in Itwarina, managed to escape through a hole in the back and, through the night, they went around the towns to Avint, where they captured its inhabitants with little resistance, as the towns' wellbeing had suffered under the leadership of Leriabar. When the sun arose, Leriabar immediately went back to Avint, where the civilians had joined Inairke against him. Leriabar then surrendered, and the reinforcements were called back to Avint. In 8 Wota-Eimarae, 24981 AYM, the Rilvespians were formally incorporated into Nostavor.
