Culture

The Skyburners practice the art of being humble and simple honor, they are the favored House but only resort to violence as a last-ditch effort. But they are not submissive and only bend a knee to those they deem honorable, not stronger than them. This is best illustrated on their Seat of Power, Planet Krie where they usurped the current ruling family, House Herrera after they fell into deceit and civil war.   Unlike many of the other Great Magical Houses, House Skyburner did not practice the keeping of a harem or tolerate many lovers for members of its noble lineage. They had a strict monogamy standard which was quite normal on Planet Krie among the various cultures and people. This, however, did drastically decrease the number of Skyburners at a time as a single wedding usually only produced 2-3 offspring at a time, and most Skyburners did not re-marry unless no direct or distant heir was avaliable.

Assets

The Skyburner's are recognized as the nobility of planet Krie and are granted all rights and perks associated with it. Their seat of power lies on the planet Krie, a keep called Castle Skyburner as well as a vast estate on the planet Mars that produces exceptional vegetables.

Principality of Truth & Justice

PTJ is the Capital ship of the Skyburner Fleet, a vessel estimated to be worth ∐25,000,000,000. It was a gift from a friendly system whom Umber Skyburner freed from a religious dictatorship. It was supported by a rather generous fleet that remained in constant orbit of Krie, ever vigilant for new threats.

History

River, The 1st

The surname "Skyburner" is actually no surname at all. It originated on planet Krie from the word Fi'ok for "Air" and Brush'Duhr for "Destroyer". Fi'ok Brush'Duhr was what the natives called the invading Gee Armada soldiers as their great machines polluted the sky and destroyed their homeland. The Gee translated this to Sky and Burner, as the smog from their ships left great red clouds in the sky. Hence, Skyburner was made.   While all the Gee were known as Skyburners, this would change with the Krie rising up and repelling the invading army which had a domino effect leading to the collapse of the Gee Empire altogether. After this event, the Krie finally allowed their few remaining prisoners to go free, River, the only remaining soldier who was left alive when captured.   While he was released, River did remain on Planet Krie as the Gee Empire had fallen apart and splintered into many civil wars. He became a warrior of sorts, putting his military and Majikal training to use for various vassals and lords who needed the muscle. He was known as The Skyburner which was later assumed to be his surname. One day Krie began to fall under attack from Bizzarians for the precious Lynastir Ore found only on Krie. Only 5 Bizzarians were sent but even one Bizzarian was more than enough to topple worlds.   The ruling House of Krie, the House of Herrera, would call on River for aid, promising him great riches and anything he desired should he repel this invasion. River accepted but demanded that he be the only warrior sent to dispatch of them. In reality, River had no desire to go toe-to-toe with 5 of the most dangerous warriors Midgard has ever known. So, instead, he made them an offer they could not refuse; They could mine Ore from Krie and funnel it back to their own empire without a drop of Krieian blood spilled. The House of Herrera was opposed to selling their resources to such violent offworlders, but when the alternative is death, they came around to see things River's way.   Because River kept his word, the House of Herrera was forced to pay him his fees, which he used to set himself up nicely on the continent of Weobrathane, a relatively unsettled part of Krie filled with outlaws and monsters; a place River fit in just fine with. He built a humble fort at the peak of a mountain and dubbed it 'Castle Skybruner', partly in jest to its mediocre size.

Freja The Great

Many years had passed and the Skyburner lineage continued through interbreeding with natives of Krie. The land of Weobrathane had begun to develop on its own into a young nation but was threatened by the Kingdom of Yeq, ruled by the House of Herrera, who sought to bring it into its fold as well. Weobrathane formed a makeshift army and opposed Yeq but their outlaws and mercenaries were not enough o oppose Imperial Soldiers.   The Skybruners, seen as a clan of great warriors and reasonably rich from their forefathers, were paid to keep out of the conflict by Sebastian Herrera and promised to be left in peace once Yeq established control. L'amar Skybruner agreed to these terms but his granddaughter, the young and rebellious Freja, entered into the battle on Weobrathane's side regardless, joining the Volunteer Army.   Freyja, as Sebastian had feared, was a key player in the war. She was adaptable on the battlefield and bested not even once in combat, only lacking in Majikal ability. At the Siege of Primerevil, Yeq sent their General, Urdak, with an entire legion of Mages to corner and kill Skyburner, betting on her Majikal handicap to give them victory. Freja, never looking twice before she lept, played into the trap and suffered her first defeat. This would have meant victory for Yeq but Urdak underestimated both the Volunteer Army and a Skyburner's resolve.   The commander of the Volunteer Army, Tincen, had bet on Freja's impulsive and uncontrollable nature, which caused Yeq to leave key stations undefended with their top Mages focused on Freja. In a quick response, Urdak tried to re-deploy his Mages but Freja had forced her way out of their Prison Realm and re-took their captured fortress. This was a critical victory for the Volunteer Army and severely weakened the Yeq Army's morale.   Freja was promoted higher within the army and continued to be a key player in the war until Yeq finally agreed to a cease-fire 9 years later. Freja, now a war hero, returned to her fort on Mt. Zrefield, where a great city would later be built at its feet by Tincen. It was called Zrefield at the time but would later be remembered as Old Zrefield later once New Zrfield was founded.

Killian, The Fire-Touched

Planet Krie was put on the map with the sale of Lynastir Ore, a precious metal which sold extremely well on the Universeal Market. The ruling power of Krie, House of Herrera, had control over the sale of the ore and became incredibly rich because of it. However, this was jepodrized with Brenton Herrera who made a deal with the Imperium of Midgard to sell the ore to them at a reduced tax rate. This was not too outrageous until the Imperium began to steep the world in heavy debt by offering an immense amount of infrastructure Krie did not previously have; Starports, larger cities, and boosted it's own personal starfleet. To relieve this tremendous debt, Brenton allowed the Empire to mine Lynastir Ore for free, without any taxes to the House of Herrera at all.
---
When word spread of this deal, other parties and empires began to also trap the old fool Brenton in bad deals, forcing him to take on too much debt, and then "forgiving" the debt in exchange for free mining or greatly reduced taxes on mining. This quickly did a massive blow to the economy of Krie and began to effect it globally. Furthermore, the various parties minded the ore with their own eqiopment and would often get into heated battles or full on mini wars with each other, bringing ruin Krie. Génesis-Varela Herrera, Brenton's wife, failed to make him take a stand and he would immediately undo any restrictions she imposed on the offworlders.
---
Out of options, Génesis-Varela sought out aid from the mighty Skyburners of Weobrathane. Within the month, Killian Skyburner, the current House Head, returned to planet Krie from deep-space to find his home in ruin. He swiftly went to Brenton but the King would have none of Killian's nonsense, threatening his wife for seeking the aid of a Skyburner. Killian left Yeq and immediately went to the biggest minning operation the Imperium of Midgard had; when dealing with bullies you don't need to beat all of them, just the biggest.
---
Killian demanded they either begin paying full taxes now or leave Krie, and when they refused, Killian unleashed himself upon them, wielding the Infernal Tome. He destroyed their massive minning riggs and chased them off his world with support from his own wealthy House. Most independent minning operations did stop after this but taxes were still not being paid, Krie was still suffering. Killian was summoned before Brenton who ordered him to cease any hostilities with his business partners, Krie was his world, not Killian's, he knew what was best for it.
---
The Imperium of Midgard resumed minning on Krie, with Brenton allowing them to have a bigger military presence and paying for any damages caused by Killian as an apology. And soon, other parties followed suit, claiming they needed to protect their men from the Skyburners. The skies of Krie were dotted with a multitude of alien star fleets and Krie was being drianed of it's ore.
---
However, Killian had been formulating his own solution and was ready to put it in motion. He had his forces once again cease operations in some of the Imperium's biggest facilities and this time, a high ranking official was sent from the Empire to sort out Brenton. Killian intercepted her, Fujikawa Azami, and she warned him that any more interference with Imperium operations and a full war fleet would be sent to forcibly bring Krie within the Empire's ranks. But Killian had a wager; Him vs any Imperial Champion Azami wanted. And if Killian won, the Imperium would have to pay all back taxes on all the ore they mined in the last few years + a strict trade embargo, but if her Champion won, Killian and his House would allow them to mine without interruption. Azami was not impressed and felt her sid of the wager was lacking, until Brenton's wife entered negotiations. Génesis-Varela would marry into one of the Imperial Royal Houses, allowing the Imperium to have a far greater level of control over Krie and it's metals.
---
Azami arrived with her favorite Champion, RISE, and Killian arrived ready to battle, with House Herrera spectating. The fight was fierce and long, RISE was great and formidable but in the end, his power could not dwarf Killian's, though he was equally near death. Brenton rejoiced that he would not lose his wife but Azami was less than pleased, and would not honor her agreement, Krie would fall to Imperial control. Killian, in one act of selflessness, offered her the Inferno Tome in exchange for Krie's freedom. If Azami were to bring that awesome cosmic power into the Imperium's control, she might even be congrulated by the Empress herself! The only catch being, to remove the tome would kill Killian.
---
The brave warrior bid his homeland farewell before boarding an Imperial transport, never to be seen again. Despite Azami's dishonor, the Imperium did pay full back taxes and behaved in accordance with Krie's minning rules and future taxes. As did all other parties not seeking to invite the wrath of the Skyburners. Brenton made the Skybruners Royalty on Krie and even knighted Killian's kid sister, Kimber, but in the end, it still cost Killian his life to save Krie.

Territories

The House of Skyburn'r controls a relatively small sector of the Universe, just a little over half a Galaxy's worth of systems. This is considered a small chunk of space but the House doesn't desire an absurd number of worlds under their flag.

Military

Skyburner Fleet & Military Might

House Skyburner has an impressive Military force known as the 12 Divisions of Kasha'Ad, named after the wife of the late Jett Skyburner. They are known as one of the most dangerous and elite fighting forces within the Universe for their mastery of Subete o Rikai Suru, or the "Understanding of Everything", a skill that allows for more powerful and useful application of Magic. This 'understanding' is what allows them to perform some truly exceptional feats, with many comparing 1 Sentinel of Kasha'Ad to 15 Imperial Troopers.
---
The 12 Divisions of Kasha'Ad also have an impressive naval fleet as well to cut out the middle man of moving troops and supplies between controlled worlds. The Navy is not split up by division but rather acts as one unified body that serves all 12 Divisions. Despite their skill and ingenuity that allows the Kasha'Ad Fleet come out superior to most navies, it is, admittingly, the Skyburner's weakest military power.

Trade & Transport

The Skyburners have a monopoly over the distribution of Lynastiir Ore, a rare ore with special properties only found on Planet Krie, their Seat of Power. This has made their House Trillions over the ages and is the very thing that made Krie so unique in the first place.

The Miyazakis & Skyburners are so close they may as well be related. The Miyazaki Clan has ruled over the planet Earth for ages now and officially recognizes the Skyburners as royalty on all Earth-controlled worlds.
