First War of Southern Ocrea

War to forge a kingdom

The First War of Southern Ocrea, sometimes known as the Kingdom Campaign, was a continental war in the majority of southern and middle Ocrea, fought from 1472 to 1557 between forces of over nine major clans seeking to conquer neighbouring clans, as well as each other, to forge a united South Ocrea under their own rule. It is considered to be one of the largest conflicts in world history, as each army easily outmatches those of Europe and Asia, making it a war that could escalate to a higher degree. Dozens of other smaller clans also partook in the war on their own side but were mostly ended up being subjugated by the far superior clans in the conflict.   The conflict took a massive turn once European powers started to join in on the conflict, starting with the Spanish-Shajin alliance in 1521 which drew in France and England to forge an alliance and trade agreement with rival clans to bolster their influence on the continent. This led to the first introduction of firearms on the continent, which was originally mistaken for magical staffs, which quickly proved to be a deciding factor on the continent, as European cannons became known for being able to be easily deployed more than a catapult or a trebuchet and blast down an enemy's gate with ease.

The Conflict

Prelude

The war found its origins in the growing rise of nine powerful clans who grew illusioned by the prophecy to restore the Kingdom of Ocrea to the point they started to feud over land possessions around the continent. This led to the aggressive expansion of those clans in order to forge their own kingdom in the south, which led to a number of open conflicts that resulted in clans either being subdued or swearing loyalty to the clan leaders. This aggression escalated to the point all nine clans declared war on each other in 1472, sparking a continental war but at the same time forging the height of Ocrean power on the continent.

Battlefield

The war was fought almost exclusively in South Ocrea, though some fighting made it to the north and islands at sea. Soldiers mainly fought on open plains, forests or at sea.

Outcome

A large number of clans subdued by each of the nine major clans, each of the nine clans hold a large portion of South Ocrea.

Aftermath

The war changed economic, political, governmental, and social relations among the nine Ocrean powers. This truce ushered in a massive level of instability between the nine factions, all the way to the point spies and assassins were hired during the truce, only increasing each other's dislike for one another. Though, this helped each clan build a substantial economy and forge powerful armies, considered the peak of Ocrean society since the Kingdom of Ocrea hundreds of years before.   In Europe, France and England's desire to outclass the Spanish influence proved to be the detriment to their own economy and armies in Europe, as the need for troops in Ocrea was constantly hassled by the Spanish navy, while Spain capitalized on it and claimed vast amounts of land in Italy and the Mediterranean with help from fighters from the Shajin Clan, forcing the French to renounce their claim to Italy in 1559 and Spain establishing themselves as the main European power in Ocrea.
