Pánfilo de Narváez
Pánfilo de Narváez was a Spanish conquistador and soldier in the Caribbean and Ocrea. Born in Spain, he first embarked to Jamaica in 1510 as a soldier. He came to participate in the conquest of Cuba and led an expedition to Camagüey escorting Bartolomé de las Casas. People who worked under him described him as exceedingly cruel towards the natives in Cuba.
In 1519, Diego Velázquez de Cuéllar, the governor of Cuba authorized and paid for Hernán Cortés to man an expedition to find land west of Cuba. But having second thoughts about Cortés' loyalty, he recalled the expedition shortly after embarking. Cortés disobeyed and proceeded with the planned expedition that would eventually result in the discovery of Ocrea. Arriving from Cuba, Narváez was named the governor of Cortés' former holdings in Cuba by Velázquez who sent him and 1,400 men on 19 ships to the heart of Ocrea to intercept Cortés. This mission failed when he took in the sights of Ocrea and decided to start a colony in the jungle town of Nihon, where his expedition met an immediate attack from both Cortés' men and Shajin warriors, which resulted in his capture and imprisonment at Castle Cortés, where he was eventually let go and returned to Cuba.

Personal history
Pánfilo de Narváez was born in Castile in 1478. He was a relative of Diego Velázquez de Cuéllar, the first Spanish governor of Cuba. His nephew was Antonio Velázquez de Narváez. Narváez took part in the Spanish conquest of Jamaica in 1509. In 1511 he went to Cuba to participate in the conquest of that island under the command of Diego Velázquez de Cuéllar. He led expeditions to the eastern end of the island where eyewitnesses reported that Narváez presided over the infamous massacre of Caonao, where Spanish troops put to the sword a village full of natives who had come to meet them with offerings of food.
Morality & Philosophy
Like most conquistadors, Narváez is not above massacre, showing just how ruthless he was when he brutally slaughtered a town of natives who just offered him and his men food, with his explanation being that they deserved it.
