The Savior

The Savior is the largest star ship and most powerful ship in the Federation without question, and the biggest ship known to humanity. It is officially classed as a "Triple Super Heavy Battlecarrier", a hundred times bigger than the next biggest ship, the merely Super Super Heavy Battlecarrier Compliance.   Whereas the Compliance is merely the size of a large city, The Savior is the size of a small country. 66 kilometers long and weighing in at nearly a teraton, everything about The Savior sounds like it was made up by an overimaginative child. An elevator is needed to descend past the 80 meter thick armor plates. A crew of two million is needed to run the ship and it still feels empty. A million automated laser turrets protect every square centimeter of the hull. The ship is capable of firing a salvo of ten million missiles in a minute, enough to obliterate whole fleets. A battery of 12,000 super heavy lasers can hit large targets.   Mobile dry docks carry 8 million small fighters, a million heavy fighters, 80,000 light cruisers, 5,000 heavy cruisers and 50 battleships. Sixteen solid hydrogen plasma engines the size of mountains are required to move the thing at any acceptable rate.   The Savior has facilities to hold thirty million people and cargo space to supply a country. A high-speed rail network inside the ship connects the eight cities that house the crew and passengers.   Two stellarator reactors are needed for the 6 terawatts required to keep the ship powered.   Additionally, the ship easily accomodates a personal palace of Empress Katarina Leocadia.

History

The Savior started life as an economic stimulus project in the the Bijay Abhijit Administration  . General Secretary Abhijit was infamous for his love of the navy and large ships, and came up with the initial idea for a battlecarrier of unmatched size and strength. Work began in 2401, along with several "smaller" ships like the FN Compliance, the FN Kalki, and the FN Napoleon. When Jochim Borgia became General Secretary  , he ended all of Abhijit's shipbuilding efforts. The yard sat derelict for a few years before it was sold to an aristocrat who continued work on it.   The project continued to trade hands for over a century until it landed into the hands of Duchess Esther Hodges in 2552, who had sworn an oath to General Secretary Abhijit to complete the ship. It took her nearly everything she had, but she did. In 2580 the ship was completed, but too late to participate in the Great Tungan War. Instead, in 2583, she donated it to the Imperial Federation for use as a flagship during the Conference of Avignon .   It took until 2587 until the resources were made available to make the Savior operational, where it was deployed to intercept Terran Dictate fleets. Because of the overwhelming strength of the Savior, Terran Federation forces will not engage it directly, so the Savior has never needed to fire its weapons except in tests. Plans are currently being made to send the Savior to Earth and engage the Terran Federation directly, but pressure from from the Dictate has kept it from being deployed offensively.
