Avalong (A-va-long)

Bard Avalong O connor- Suger (a.k.a. Ava)

Avalong is one of Fregers most well-known bards. She is half Vunar half-human and was born in the town of Petershire in 903 YSC. During her early years, she was always in the local tavern because she was obsessed with the bards working there. She begged her mother to give her a lute but she wanted her to work in the tailoring business.   After she was old enough to leave the home and pursue her own dreams she went out to the city of Sacoma. There she visited Musneir college. She asked if she could apply but she was turned down because of her class and gender. This made her angry but she didn't want to go back and be a tailor so, she went out to seek Fortune in the colonies.   She moved to the town of Chriskovic which was a trading hub now after the revolution. There she went to a small bards guild and joined. It was here where she was taught how to play the Lute, Drums, and even the flute. She also learned how to sing and write songs. Her teachers started seeing some talent with her and she rose in the ranks faster than some of the bards taught there for years.   When she mastered the instruments she started playing at the taverns in the city and quickly became a tourist must-see in Chriskovic. One day while she was playing in the tavern she found a mercenary by the name of Blade. They both started seeing each other because and figured out they had a lot in common. They eventually married and had 4 kids. This caused her to stay home for the most part only doing shows when one of her friends could watch them or if Blade wasn't working as well. She died in 1007 YSC because of an illness that she got because she visited the Vud elven cities in Iddesseoa.

One day while in the tavern, she saw some bards playing and she fell in love with music. She begged her mother to get her a lute but she didn't want her to be a bard. She went to the Bards College they had there and applied. The people were happy to have her join and taught her everything she needed and wanted to learn. About 2 years later she did her first show at one of the taverns and it was an amazing success. She later did more and more shows in taverns across the city. Everyone came to see her and people started talking about her to others outside the city. When she sang in her fathers' language of Chakata she could make people sing and dance without them even realizing it.

Was she old or young at her death for a half-vunar? (i saw that they live to be 450, so 104 seemed young to me)   In the beginning you say she wasn't allowed to attend the local bard college because of her class, later on you say it was because of her gender, just something i noticed. You have a good start here, but some things could use some expanding, like why did she fall in love with Blade? Did family life change her (or him)? Was she naturally gifted as presumably she got a later start to music than some of her peers?

I wondered the same thing (about the age), the Vunar species article put it half-human Vunar's at 100-200, (which may have been a later edition than your question), so assuming the half-human Vunar's are adults at 62 also, then I guess she was middle aged...   But of course Lazy234 is probably better placed to confirm that, than I :)

Yes, that is true. Since she was half human and Vunar she didn't live as long as a pure Vunar would. I don't know if this makes any sense to you (let me know if it did).

It made sense, thanks.

Good start but could use some extra explanations perhaps :) Don't understand what the class difference would be for a tailor and a bard? Is it only for nobles perhaps and why was she able to join bards somewhere else?   Her mother seems very rude though by destroying her instrument. How come she changed her mind and still let her go afterwards?

The sacoma bard's college is a college that teaches nobility while Chriskovics college wanted to give other people the chance to learn how to be a bard. Her mother let her go because she knew that Ava would still leave.

A great start, and quite the sad way for a bard's life to end! I'd love to see some expansion on how hard she found it to juggle the few shows she managed while raising 4 kids. Did Blade watch the children while she performed?

It was tragic for the bard community. I'll try to expand on it.

A nice start :) looking over your other articles you seem to be building a very comprehensive lore, with a lot of nice details for people to get in to. The challenge I found on my article was how to bring those details in to a single article, but you've got a nice character outlined to build that around, while is a great start.

Thanks, it gets stressful at times but is fun. Your work is amazing as well.

Nice character :D Did that first bard college regret not taking her in when she became famous? :p And did she kept in contact with her mother after she left? Smashing that instrument instead of reselling it was a waste of money XD

Yes, they did, very much. Unfortunately, she didn't keep in touch with her mom.
