The Scabannader

Scabannader are a special force that was created by Arthon during his reformation of the Nekurian Army. A rather special scout force created solely for unknown purposes to many, its creation was conflicted by the generals of the army. It is lead by colonel Heren who himself was one of the driving forces behind the creation.

Arthon and Heren decided that the formation vas to be around 500-800 men and women but be able to be divided into groups of 100-120.

Equipment

In the Scabannaders equipment, there are mostly what the soldier him-/herself can carry that is important. Many use swords and/or dagger in battle and not shields as they are not a frontline unit. For range alternative they use bows.
When they are to be deployed, they are only given 150 horses as the unit is supposedly not to be moving any larger distance except for giving messages and moving people between camps. Many are therefore on foot with their equipment on their backs. Some are assigned to carry the tents and additional material for camp construction, thus allowing others to carry their weapons for them.

Structure

At the top of the structure, Heren commands the unit, who have special orders from Arthon himself. Heren decided on a structure where captain ranked soldiers lead their camps according to pre-determined orders from Heren and Arthon.

Tactics

The tactics are a closely held secret from the rest of the army, limiting outside knowledge of how Heren leads his unit. Most likely as their classification is of a raiding unit, they use hit-and-run tactics and hunting smaller units due to their own, limited size. Arthon's recommendation to Heren was to deploy after battles, rather than his unit acting in and on the main battlefield. It is also rumoured that the unit is a battlefield control unit to make diversions, harassment and forcing out enemies against Nekuram.

Logistics

Recruitment

Arthon was very specific on who he recruited as the leader of the unit. Rather than allowing an older and experienced general taking the lead, there was a selection process among younger and untested officers and nobility. While Arthon's hostility to the nobility estates privilege had always been clear but some of the younger nobility was close to being chosen instead of Heren. Heren was, however, a much better tactician on a smaller scale and an experienced duelist, making his repertoire more resonant with what Arthon was looking for.
The unit as a whole was recruited from among the already assembled scout groups and units. Some in the unit were hand-picked together by Arthon and Heren, but mostly for the purpose of officer duty.
